I must’ve walked past the little outpost for A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas in Magic Kingdom more times than I can count.

It always looked like one of those extra things you do if you have time. But one afternoon, I finally gave it a shot… and I am here to tell you: it absolutely made my day 10x better. Here’s what happened, why I recommend it, and what you should know before you try it yourself.
The Thing You Never Think To Do, But Should
Let’s set the scene: we had just finished Pirates of the Caribbean, it was too early for our next dining reservation, and the wait times for other rides were climbing. I wasn’t in the mood to bake in the sun for a ride, so we wandered. Then we spotted it: The Crow’s Nest. No line. No cost. And a sign promising treasure. I figured, “Why not?”

And wow. This little game took Adventureland from a place I usually breeze through into a legit highlight of my Magic Kingdom day.
Here’s How It Works
A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas is basically a treasure hunt game you can do at your own pace — no apps, no extra charges, no time limit. You pick up a “magic talisman” (a card with an RFID chip) and a pirate map at The Crow’s Nest, which is tucked just past the arches by Pirates of the Caribbean.

Then, you’re off. There are five missions total, each taking about 15–20 minutes. The map guides you to different spots in Adventureland where you scan your talisman and trigger physical effects — think cannons firing, skeletons moving, secret messages appearing. It’s a mix of interactive tech and clever Imagineering that completely surprised me.

You’re helping Captain Jack Sparrow fend off Barbossa, dodge the Royal Navy, and find the hidden Treasures of the Seven Seas. And if you finish all five quests? You get officially recruited to Jack’s crew. Seriously. There’s even a little ceremony at the end.
What Makes It So Fun
What blew me away was how detailed this game is. These aren’t just little audio clips or QR codes — these are physical effects built into the land that most guests walk by and never even notice. It’s like you’ve been given special access to secrets hidden in plain sight.

And it’s good for literally anyone. It’s chill, easy to follow, and doesn’t require you to finish it all at once.

Honestly, it was a refreshing break from the usual ride-hopping pace. It gave us a chance to slow down, take in the area, and still feel like we were doing something immersive and unique. It’s also fully outdoors, so if you’ve got a snack or drink in hand, you can totally bring it along for the ride.
Why You Should Try It
- It’s free. That alone makes it worth it. Disney rarely gives us anything that feels this fun without a price tag.
- It’s low-effort, high-payoff. You don’t need to schedule anything, wait in line, or compete for spots. You just show up.
- It’s something different. If you’ve done Magic Kingdom a few times and want something new, this adds a fresh layer of fun, especially in a land that can get crowded fast.
- It’s surprisingly clever. The effects aren’t cheesy — they’re legit impressive. It made me want to hunt down every last clue.

Tips Before You Go
- You can start anytime during the day, but the attraction closes several hours earlier than the park — so don’t wait too long.
- You can use your MagicBand or park ticket to play, but I recommend getting the talisman card — it’s pirate-themed and adds to the vibe.
- Each quest stands alone, so you can do one and come back later for the rest. Or knock out a few while you wait for a Lightning Lane or mobile order to be ready.
- This is a great mid-afternoon activity when the crowds are intense and you’re not ready to stand in another 60+ minute line.
Final Thoughts
I never thought I’d spend part of my Magic Kingdom day chasing pirate treasure around Adventureland. But now, I’m kinda kicking myself that I waited this long to try it. It’s interactive, it’s immersive, and best of all — it’s fun without being stressful. In a park where almost everything requires planning and patience, A Pirate’s Adventure is a low-key win that made my day way better.

Next time you find yourself with some time to kill in Adventureland or just need a change of pace, give it a shot. You might walk away with a new favorite Magic Kingdom memory — and maybe a spot on Captain Jack’s crew.

We Need to Talk About This Disney World Ride Trend
Have you tried A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas? Let us know in the comments!
Shoot. We did three and thought that was all. We’ll have to figure out which two we missed.
It’s sad that one of the pluses is that it’s free. There never used to be up charges at Disney. You paid for food and souvenirs. Now the charge you to park at their hotels
So I guess you got to keep the maps and cards as souvenir keepsakes?
Been doing this for years. Must have dozens of maps at home. I love that you can stop & come back later in the day, week, month or yr and continue from where you left off.
Love these extra fun activities.😃
I agree that Pirate’s Adventure is loads of fun, and that it can be done whether it’s crowded or not! I’ve done it both with kids and without. Pirate ship, cannons, hidden treasures, and more! There is only one negative – it’s a LOT of steps going back and forth across Adventureland. Make sure all your pirate recruits are hydrated and energized when you start.
You should have tried Sorcerer’s of the magic kingdom (before they closed it).
it was very similar, and you played throughout the park.
