Will Test Track Use a Virtual Queue When It Re-Opens in Disney World?

It is almost time for a fan-favorite EPCOT attraction to reopen!

Test Track Refurbishment

Last June, Test Track closed to be reimagined as a third iteration of the ride. Test Track 3.0 is set to take inspiration from its predecessor, World of Motion. While we don’t have an exact opening date, Disney did share that riders will once again be able to take a spin on the attraction when it opens in late Summer 2025.

When new rides open at Disney World, a Virtual Queue tends to be used to help minimize ride wait times. Virtual Queues are just what they sound like — you are basically waiting in line virtually. At Disney World, you join a virtual queue through the My Disney Experience app, and you’re given a group number. You’ll get a notification on your phone when your number is called, and you then have an hour to go to the attraction, scan in, and ride.

This was the case when Rise of the Resistance, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, TRON Lightcycle / Run, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened. As of the end of February 2025, Disney World currently has no Virtual Queues. This means that if you want to ride these popular and newer attractions, you can do so via the standby line or through Lighting Lane Multi or Single Pass

Test Track is set to be Disney World’s latest ride opening, so will it use Virtual Queue? It is a tricky question because this is not the first time that the ride has been rethemed. Granted, when Test Track 2.0 opened in December of 2012, Virtual Queue did not exist.

The same argument could be used for the Splash Mountain retheme into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Although it was just a ride retheme and the track and layout of the ride stayed the same, it was still a new story, and Disney expected high demand for riders to get to experience this brand new attraction. This resulted in Virtual Queue being used from its opening at Disney World in June of 2024 all the way until February 2025.

So, it could be very possible that Test Track 3.0 uses a Virtual Queue as Disney has promised that “new show scenes will be added showcasing technological advances and how our lifestyles and relationships to mobility connect everyone.”  This could mean that since there will be new elements (as expected), Disney could use the Virtual Queue for a short period as they did when Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opened. For reference, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure only used Virtual Queue for about three months; this is nothing compared to Cosmic Rewind’s almost three-year stint of using the service.

While it has not been confirmed, we expect that Test Track will use Muli Pass (the attraction closed to be reimagined before the new Lighting Lane system replaced Genie+) instead of being part of Single Pass. If Test Track does not use Virtual Queue, it would be wise to make Test Track one of your top Multi Pass picks, especially when the ride first opens.

We can’t wait to experience this new version of Test Track and will make sure to keep you updated as more details about the attraction are released.
