The Lightning Lane Perk I Fear Disney World Will Kill Next

Listen, I don’t often buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass, because when I’m headed to Disney World for vacation and not for work, I’m traveling on a budget.

Waiting in line isn’t something I’m great at, so I usually try to budget the service into my trip when I can, especially if I know it’ll be a busier time of year. When Genie+ turned into Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass last year, I was worried about not being able to stack my Lightning Lanes anymore, but all that changed when Breedlove discovered a secret rule that changed everything. I’ve gotta admit though, it’s so good that I’m afraid Disney will take it away someday!

When the new service dropped, Breedlove found that instead of only having one hour to redeem your return time for an attraction, you actually have three hours (2 hours and 59 minutes to be exact) to return. The Lightning Lane will disappear from your My Disney Experience App after one hour, AND you’ll be able to book another one, but you’ve still got essentially a full two hours after that fact to redeem it.

Rise of the Resistance Lightning Lane

I myself have used this trick every single time I’ve been in the park since and have never had issues with it. Being able to not only book your Lightning Lanes ahead of time (3 days in advance for all guests, except hotel guests who have 7 days) but also stacking them is a game changer!

Haunted Mansion Lightning Lane

My favorite thing to do is to book my top two attractions as far out as I can (which is usually three days in advance), but use my last one to book a “throwaway” attraction. Essentially, this is usually a ride like Pirates of the Caribbean or Mad Tea Party — something I’ll be able to hop on as soon as the park opens, and then be able to free up that Lightning Lane for another one ASAP. Quincy was the one who really started this tactic, and it’s certainly very helpful!

Lightning Lane at The Seas with Nemo and Friends

This is typically a better strategy than booking all three of your attractions for later in the day, as then you won’t be able to do anything unless you cancel a Lightning Lane before using it, or wait to use your first one. However, this can be great for people who are spending a half day in the parks, and potentially spending time at their hotel earlier in the day.

  1. Dont rely on this hack. A friend got denied at Peter Pan for being late. CM said grace period is at their discretion, and they can actually get in trouble for allowing it when ride is backed up. 15-30 mins late means you tried and they understand. More than that is abuse and is unfair to those who come on time.

  2. Lightning lanes need to be better organised,Disney kept closing them off at Hollywood on 18th Feb. They need to provide the service properly, like Universal do. They still treat it like the old free fast pass system, as in they give no value to the fact your spending extra money. They need to get there act together, its a paid extra so either charge more and do it properly or dont offer it. No one wants to pay money for essentially a rip off.
