Disney World Just Slashed One of Its Most Annoying Ride Rules

Two rides are about to look very different in Disney World!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Beginning February 25th, there will be no more virtual queues at Disney World (at least for now). Both Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT will transition to a stand-by line and eliminate their virtual queues.

When Disney opens a new attraction, it often utilizes a virtual queue system to help control the crowds. Disney World has had virtual queues at rides such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and TRON Lightcycle / Run. All of these attractions have since switched to a stand-by queue, but two Disney World attractions still use a virtual queue system.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind utilize the virtual queue system, but that is about to change! On February 25th, 2025, both attractions will switch to using a stand-by line. You will no longer have to get up at 7 AM to get a virtual queue. Now you can ride the attractions by getting in line in the standby line, getting a Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, or a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

As these two attractions get rid of their virtual queue, you will have more flexibility on when you choose to ride. You will no longer have to wait for your boarding group to be called, and you also won’t have the stress of trying to grab a virtual queue at 7 AM or 1 PM. Additionally, you can also choose to keep standing in line if you are hoping to ride multiple times.

However, we expect these attractions will likely have long standby lines, so be prepared. If you want a shorter wait time, consider purchasing a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or reserving a Lightning Lane Multi Pass time for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. With the purchase, you will be able to enter through the Lightning Lane, which will be a shorter wait than the standby line. Of course, we will be in the parks checking out these changes, so stay tuned for full coverage.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

After February 25th, there will be no more virtual queues at Disney World. However, we expect them to return when new attractions open, including the Cars area in Frontierland and the Monsters, Inc. Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

  1. I don’t see the end of the virtual queue at Guardians as a positive. It just means waiting in line for a long time. Just look at the Avatar line at Animal Kingdom. That will be Guardians.
