2 Major Additions CONFIRMED for Monsters, Inc. Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios

A brand-new Monsters, Inc. Land will be making its way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios soon. The beloved movie is finally getting its own land, and we can’t wait to step inside!

While we likely won’t be stepping foot inside any time soon as construction hasn’t even begun yet, what has been confirmed for this new land? What will we be able to experience inside of this Monsters, Inc. Land?

First of all, we know that the Monsters, Inc. Land will be replacing the Muppets Courtyard area. When Disney announced the new land at the 2024 D23 Expo, it was announced that work is expected to begin in 2025, but we don’t have a more exact timeline than that. The land will pick up after the events of the original movie.

Muppets Courtyard

We have seen some concept art photos, and we have spent lots of time analyzing the photos and what might be coming to the land, but let’s take a look at what Disney has actually confirmed will be coming to the land!

First, the Monsters, Inc. Land will feature a new suspended roller coaster! On this roller coaster, you will be going inside the factory and taking a ride on the doors. We definitely dreamed about doing this as a kid, so we are super excited about this new ride. It will be the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park, which makes it even more exciting!

As well, Disney has announced that a new show will be taking over the theater that currently houses Muppet*Vision 3D. They haven’t released any more specific details other than that, though. However, if you take a look at the concept art, you can spot a sign for Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. This interactive show is currently located in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom, but could it be moving to the new Monsters, Inc. Land? We will have to wait and see!

Muppet*Vision 3D

Disney has also confirmed that there will be dining and shopping, but we don’t have any more details on what shopping and dining options there will be. We have spotted nods to Harry Hausen’s in the concept art, so we think we might see that as one of the dining options.

Plus, there is plenty of space for merchandise stores — Stage 1 Company Store is currently in the Muppets Courtyard area, although it has only hosted occasional merchandise events recently. We are also curious about what will happen with PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. Both dining locations are already outfitted as restaurants, so will they be rethemed to Monsters, Inc. or transformed into something else entirely?

We are excited to see what else will be officially announced as coming to Monsters, Inc. Land! We currently know a suspended roller coaster, a new show, shopping, and dining will be coming, but there are plenty more announcements to come!
