There really is no park quite like Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Whether you’re talking about the jaw-dropping immersion you get at Galaxy’s Edge or Toy Story Land or the high-intensity thrills you get with the Tower of Terror or Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster, you’ve got a lot of fun packed into this park. Now, that’s got us reflecting. You know, there are a couple of cheats that we use all the time to help us make the most out of our visits there, so let’s talk about them!
We’re about to dive right in, so jot these “cheats” down as quickly as you can! Hopefully, they’ll help you maximize your fun at Hollywood Studios.
Score a Seat at the Hollywood Brown Derby (without a reservation)
The Hollywood Brown Derby is a fan favorite and as such reservations can be tough to snag. But don’t let that get you down.

Here’s the secret: Head on over to the Hollywood Brown Derby lounge and put your name on the walk-up waitlist. You might be surprised how quickly you get seated!
Nighttime Advantage
Hollywood Studios is just like any other park in that during the day the wait times can soar. As the sun starts to set and the day crowds begin to dwindle, however, Hollywood tends to undergo a “magical” transformation.

You’ll typically start to see wait times plummet, which is the perfect opportunity for you to experience your favorite attractions with some pretty minimal queues.

Also, if you’re looking for a snack and a drink before watching Fantasmic!, don’t forget about BaseLine Tap House.

It feels like a hidden gem — one where you can have a refreshing beverage and a tasty snack.
Opt for the Second Fantasmic! Show
Speaking of Fantasmic!, are you planning on catching the show to round out your evening? Well, if they happen to have a second showtime (they don’t always offer it), you might want to consider opting for it.

You’ll likely be able to score, better viewing spots with a slightly smaller crowd, and avoid all the rush.
Unlock Chewie Mode on Smuggler’s Run
Hey there Star Wars fans! Are you planning on piloting the Millennium Falcon while you’re at the park? Did you know that there’s a special mode you can activate on the Smuggler’s Run ride?

This secret hack for the ride allows you to listen to Chewbacca the whole time during your flight instead of Hondo. How do you unlock “Chewie Mode?”

During the initial flight pre-check on Smugglers Run, each rider is asked to fulfill a list of pre-flight checks on their control panel in front or to the side of them.

Instead of listening to Hondo during the pre-check, here are the step-by-step instructions to make Smugglers Run enter Chewie Mode.
- Ride Smugglers Run with a full cabin of 6 guests. It won’t work with less.
Before the ride starts, do NOT activate your position right away. - First, the left and right pilots need to push their control sticks to the far left or right and far up and down.
- Once the pilots do this, they need to push their activation button.
- Engineers and Gunners also ignore the pre-flight instructions, and hold down one of the white buttons on their control panel, and then hit the activation button.

Make sure all the guests on the ride with you follow these instructions, or it won’t work. Once this happens (if you followed everything in order) you will enter into “Chewie Mode” and you will then hear Chewbacca’s voice for the whole attraction instead of Hondo.

It definitely makes the whole experience feel much more like you’re actually on the Falcon.
Beat the Heat with Cool Shows
Need a break from the Florida sun without missing out on the magic? Take advantage of Hollywood Studios’ shows as a chance to relax in the shade while enjoying top-notch entertainment.

For example, you can belt out your favorite tunes at the Frozen Sing-Along or enjoy an original animated Mickey Short starring Mickey and Minnie called Vacation Fun!

While you’re under the glorious AC, you can’t miss the photo-op display at the exit.

Listen, Potatoland’s famous for a reason (we see you our fellow potato-loving fans). If you’ve never been, you can’t miss it.

Those are just a couple of the “cheats” we always use when visiting Hollywood Studios and we want to hear from you! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
