Don’t panic! With a little help (and a lot of enthusiasm), you can navigate the Disney parks like a professional. Trust us; it’s not as hard as you might think!

Disney’s Park Pass Reservation System

One of the most common things that we see people struggle with is Disney’s Park Pass Reservation System. It may seem intimidating, but it’s not so scary once you break it down.

Magic Kingdom

Disney introduced the Park Pass Reservation System back in 2020 as a way to manage the crowd level during its phased reopening plan. Even once the parks slowly returned to normal working order, Park Passes stuck around.

In short, the system allows guests to book a reservation to enter one park per day in advance. Then, at 2PM, guests are able to park hop to a second park.

You can start your day in Magic Kingdom, then end the night at Toy Story Land!

So, what’s the big deal? Well, just like dining reservations, Park Pass reservations can run out if enough people make a reservation for the day.

Park Passes were made to manage crowds.

During busy holidays like New Year’s Eve or Christmas, Disney has reached its Park Pass capacity, and guests have been turned away. If you’re planning to visit the parks during a holiday or busy weekend, we recommend booking those park pass reservations as far ahead of time as possible.

Don’t believe this LIE.

Let’s say that Disney’s Park Pass Reservation System shows a park is “sold out” for the day. Is all hope lost?

Not necessarily! A common misconception is that once Park Passes are gone, they’re gone for good, but that’s not always the case.

We’ve seen Disney add more Park Pass Reservations to the calendar at the last minute, leaving room for those that were not able to plan ahead.

BIG changes are coming soon

Now, if you’re planning a trip to Disney World sometime in 2024 (or beyond), we have good news! Guests with date-based Disney World park tickets will no longer need a park pass reservation to enter the parks beginning on January 9th, 2024!

That’s right — Disney’s Park Pass Reservation System won’t be around much longer for most guests! Although many thought that Park Passes were here for good, it seems like Disney is rolling them back to give guests a little more flexibility.

The truth is, you never know when Disney may decide to change its mind or unveil completely new rules! When it comes to Disney, the only consistent thing is its inconsistency.

Just remember, there’s no need to panic when planning your vacation; Disney offers some safeguards for those times when things don’t quite work out. No one wants to see you have a bad vacation, after all! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
