Annual Passholders in Disney World often get some pretty sweet deals that regular guests don’t have access to in the parks.

Sometimes it’s discounts on food, merchandise, and hotel rooms, while other times it’s access to certain locations and lounge areas, or getting early access to certain ticketed events. However, Disney just made an announcement to Passholders that a NEW perk is available, but if you ask us, they totally blew it.
One of the perks of staying at a Disney World hotel is that you can purchase a resort refillable mug for your vacation, OR the Disney Dining Plans include one for each member of your party as part of the price you paid.

These can be refilled at your hotel and can be used for soda, coffee, tea, and, of course, water.

However, Disney just announced that Annual Passholders can purchase an exclusive Sippin’ on Sunshine tumbler from select locations in Disney World via mobile order beginning on May 14th. Wow, what a great deal, right? NOPE — because Disney specifically specified that this adorable tumbler is NON-REFILLABLE.

That means that you’ll buy the tumbler once with a drink in it, and then have to pay the normal price every time you want to get it refilled with something. So, essentially, you’re just buying an Annual Passholder exclusive piece of merchandise, but we got all excited because the term “tumbler” in this scenario made us think it would be a special refillable mug, but alas, we were wrong.

We really don’t think this was the smartest move, especially when many Annual Passholders are upset about the fact that the price of their Pass continues to go up. It’s also possible (key word: possible) that Disney may not let Annual Passholders use this cup in the parks except to get water, unless you’d like to purchase a regular fountain drink in one of their cups, then pour it into your tumbler. We’ll have to wait and see when it comes out, but since Disney often now uses RFID technology in its reusable mugs to ensure that no one is filling a cup they shouldn’t, it’ll be interesting.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the tumbler and how it works when we check it out for ourselves, as well as any additional Annual Passholder offerings that are announced for this summer, so stay tuned to AllEars!
