EPCOT is no stranger to change over its past decades with construction underway for Journey of Water, Communicore, and the deconstruction of the Harmonious barges, but this one location is certainly keeping us scratching our heads!
This one location has been closed for a while now, reopened as a festival area, and then closed again, and because of some recent updates, we’re wondering if it could open soon!
EPCOT fans may have trouble remembering the last time this location was open and that’s because it’s been very confusing! The Refreshment Station near Test Track in World Discovery is the one spot that has kept us guessing in a “will they or won’t they” scenario.
In October 2022, we saw the new sign go up…
…then it was taken down in November 2022…
…and put back up again in February 2023!
On a recent trip out to EPCOT, we spotted the current state of the Refreshment Station from the monorail. As we made our way around the spot, it looks as though they may be prepping for…something. The tables and bench seating are wrapped and taped currently and there are still hedges blocking visitors from enjoying the area.
Did you also happen to notice the name change? If you’ve been trying to keep tabs on this one yourself you may have had some trouble finding it because it’s been through a few different names. The former Cool Wash station is now called Refreshment Station according to the sign on top of the stand and Disney World’s website.
When it was operating as Cool Wash, this station served light refreshments and layered slushes. It closed and reopened as a festival station to stand and enjoy your samplings, and since then has remained closed however, the addition of the bench seating and longer tables certainly gives us a glimmer of hope.
Although there are still no operating hours listed, we’re hoping that these changes may mean we’ll see this snack spot reopen in the future but it seems for now we will just have to wait and keep watch. This would be a great spot for the hot Florida summer!
