2 Popular Rides Will Be CLOSED in Disney World Next Week

A word of WARNING about Disney World this week: there are some major closures that could majorly affect your vacation.

Magic Kingdom

Splash Mountain, Kali River Rapids, and more will be unavailable for the whole week! Here’s a complete list of the temporary closures in Disney World from January 22nd through the 28th.

Magic Kingdom Closures

Splash Mountain

This popular coaster is closing on January 23rd, and it’ll remain closed until late 2024.

Disney is re-theming the ride to give it a Princess and the Frog theme. When it reopens, it’ll be called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.

Tomorrowland has lots of construction projects going on right now. Most of the attention is on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster, but a nearby gift shop is also getting some work done.

The gift shop at the end of Space Mountain (called Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.) is being refurbished now. Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for this shop yet.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

Over in Fantasyland, Enchanted Tales with Belle is still closed.

Disney has announced that this attraction will reopen on February 19th, 2023.

Meet Ariel at Her Grotto

In another part of Fantasyland, Ariel’s Grotto is closed. But remember that you can still see the Little Mermaid (in animatronic form) at the nearby Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid omnimover ride.

Ariel Meet-and-greet

This character meet-and-greet will reopen this week, on January 22nd! It will have a Lightning Lane, so you can use Genie+ to skip the line if you choose to purchase that service.

This stage show about The Little Mermaid has been closed for a long time in Hollywood Studios.

This little snack kiosk near Test Track has been through a few different renovations. We previously saw a new sign installed that said “Refreshment Station,” but recently we noticed that the sign has been removed.

Disney may be working on a new plan for the space, so we’ll keep watching for any more updates.

Kali River Rapids closed in Animal Kingdom on January 9th, and it’s going to remain closed throughout this week.

The water ride is showing operating times once again starting on March 17th, so it will likely reopen on that date.

Disney Water Park Refurbishments

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon Lagoon closed on November 13th, 2022, and it remains closed now. Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for this water park.

In the meantime, you can still visit Disney World’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, which reopened (with some updates!) as Typhoon Lagoon closed.
