MagicBand+ has officially launched in Disney World!

After accidentally releasing it early a few months ago, Disney announced that the official release date would be this summer, and now they’re finally here. They will do all the same things a regular MagicBand does, along with some new interactive features. They will activate sounds from each of the 50th Anniversary statues in what is called the Fab 50 Quest and you can even play Batuu Bounty Hunters and search for bounties around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Another feature of the new bands is their ability to interact with the nighttime shows — Enchantment in Magic Kingdom and Harmonious in EPCOT. We headed to EPCOTÂ to watch Harmonious and see what this looks like in action.
Harmonious takes place each night in EPCOT at 9PM. We found our spot and settled in for the show. When the show began, our MagicBand+ lit up and vibrated along with the fireworks, music, and light effects in the show.

The band lit up to be color-coordinated with the lighting and fireworks aspects of Harmonious.

Check out the cool rainbow effects!

Our MagicBand+ also vibrated throughout the show. We thought it might pulse in time with the music, but it didn’t — the vibrations got more intense as the intensity of the show built toward the finale.

But that’s not the only way MagicBand+ interacts with things in EPCOT! When we rode Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind recently and when we got off the ride, our MagicBand+ lit up in several different colors. It lit up dark blue at first…

…and then it got brighter before it turned off again.

It also does this at the end of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
We’ve had so much fun playing in the parks with the MagicBand+! If you’re looking to buy one, they’re available now on shopDisney, or you can get them in the Disney World parks. Disney World resort guests are also able to purchase them ahead of their arrival for a discounted price.

If you’ve already purchased your MagicBand+, check out our step-by-step guide to setting it up, or you can click here to see the MagicBand+ in action in the Disney World parks. If you’re looking for regular MagicBands, check out all of the new designs Disney just dropped online! As always, make sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and information.
