Disney has made some pretty major additions to its parks in the past few months!
We’ve gotten new rides, restaurants, and stores, as well as updated hotel rooms and entertainment options. Things are changing constantly these days, and there are a bunch of ongoing construction projects! So if you haven’t been to Disney World lately, we’re sharing all the construction progress you need to know about right here!
Magic Kingdom
Let’s start things out at Magic Kingdom where we’re watching the progress on Disney’s next big project, the TRON coaster! This week, a large truck pulled up in the middle of the construction zone, and there seems to be more equipment onsite. Does this mean we could see some big changes coming soon? This entire outdoor area has been mostly dirt for a while.
Next door, construction continues next to Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., where the outside of the store is blocked by construction walls.
Nothing has really changed here in the past week, and the inside part of the store is still open.

EPCOT
Over in EPCOT, the middle of World Celebration is still a massive construction zone, but it seems that more new structures are being added weekly to form the Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana attraction. We’re seeing crews at work here almost daily, so things are moving along!
Keep in mind that the restrooms on the World Nature side of the park are currently blocked by construction walls. If you need to use the restroom, there are others available inside The Land Pavilion, by Journey Into Imagination with Figment, and inside The Seas Pavilion.
Heading over to the World Showcase, we’ve spotted construction happening with the pavement in two different pavilions. First, it started in Japan, large sections of the ground are being replaced.
Later in the week, we noticed the same thing in Germany. The pavilions are still open to foot traffic at this time, so the work is likely happening when the park is closed.
Also in the Germany Pavilion, part of the pathway by the train village is blocked by a construction wall. You can still view the village from the sides or the front, but the main walkway through this experience is currently getting some updates.
But don’t worry — the little trains are still running!

Hollywood Studios
If you ride Toy Story Mania in Hollywood Studios, you’ll notice that the exit of the ride looks a little different right now. While construction work continues on the gift shop, guests are directed out a side door to leave the building after riding.
We know that a gift shop called Jessie’s Trading Post will be coming to the land soon, but Disney hasn’t confirmed if this will be the same one/replacing the one that’s at the exit of Toy Story Mania.

Disney Hotels
And finally, we’ve got an update on construction at the Grand Floridian! This resort is getting new DVC Resort Studio rooms in the old Big Pine Key Building. There are still construction crews on site working on the outside of the building, so we’re interested to see how much is completed in the next few weeks.
The first of these rooms are available for check-in dates starting June 20th, but Disney hasn’t shared whether or not construction will be fully complete on all rooms by then.

We’ve spotted some big progress on major construction projects in the last few weeks alone. Ride testing started over at the TRON coaster, and last week, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind officially opened to guests. EPCOT is especially starting to look a little less like a massive construction zone as more areas open up.
Disney has a lot of projects on the books currently, with updates scheduled for multiple hotels, a park-wide transformation going on at EPCOT, and a new thrill ride. We’re excited to watch each project progress through the various stages of completion. Be sure to check back with us for all of the latest updates.
