VIDEO: More Testing Took Place at EPCOT for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary

It seems like almost every day we’re getting a peek at the new experiences coming to the parks for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary!

Recently, we’ve gotten opening dates for TWO new stores in EPCOT, previewed the new attraction and restaurant coming to the France Pavilion, and even seen some fireworks testing at Magic Kingdom for the brand new nighttime show. And, now we’ve got a look at another new feature coming to EPCOT when the celebrations kick off on October 1st!

Disney has been sharing glimpses of what the four park icons will look like for the 50th Anniversary. And, while we’ve already been able to see Cinderella Castle’s big makeover during the day, we have yet to see what the park icons will look like at night in person.

But, thanks to our AllEars reader @katie_froelich on Instagram, we got a long-distance peek at some testing that took place at EPCOT early this morning (around 7AM) from allll the way near Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa! From afar, you can see Spaceship Earth lighting up in colors like green, red, blue, and white.

Now, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Disney doing some testing on Spaceship Earth. We also caught the flashing colors in the night sky from Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort last month!

And, how is Disney able to make this park icon so bright? Well, they’re using a first-of-its-kind lighting technology that actually features programmable lights that have been installed on Spaceship Earth.

Once completed, the new nighttime display will tie in with the rest of the EPCOT entrance area and feature “colors and textures that evoke stardust and the mystery and wonder of our universe.” So, it won’t necessarily be those bright colors we’re seeing with the testing.

Of course, we’ll bring you a first look at the park icon lit up on October 1st, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more!
