The 18-month long celebration is set to include brand new fireworks shows at TWO parks, a new character cavalcade, opening attractions, and more! Earlier this week, we brought you another look at how the park icons will be decked out at night for the occasion, and now we’ve got a behind-the-scenes look at the display coming to EPCOT!

Today, Disney’s Imagineer, Zach Riddley, shared photos on his Instagram account (@thezachriddley) of the first-of-its-kind lighting that is almost completely in place on Spaceship Earth! And, what’s so unique about this new display is that the lights are actually installed on the park icon.

Riddley also shared that the lights themselves are completely programmable, which gives the Disney Imagineers the ability to “test many different ideas before locking in on our best look.”

And, it’s all happening when most guests are sleeping in their resorts. In fact, we were able to catch a glimpse of the testing being done from Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort last week!

Once completed, Spaceship Earth with light up on select nights beginning October 1st with “colors and textures that evoke stardust and the mystery and wonder of our universe” and tie into the rest of the new EPCOT entrance area.
