There’s almost always some sort of construction going on around Disney World!

Recently, Disney has been sprucing up the parks and resorts in anticipation of the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration which has resulted in some temporary closures that might impact your trip. That’s why, here at AllEars, we keep you up to date on all those closures, and today, we’re bringing you an update on everything that will be closed from August 9th to August 15th, 2021 for refurbishment!
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Walt Disney World Railroad
It’s been over 2 years since the Walt Disney World Railroad has been open for guests to ride around the park and that won’t be changing this week! The longtime closure is due to construction at TRON: Lightcycle Run (Tomorrowland’s new roller coaster), as a portion of the tracks are currently being blocked by the work.

Disney has not released information on when the coaster will be completed, so it could still be quite some time before the railroad opens up again.

Main Street Confectionery
Another ongoing closure will impact Main Street Confectionery this week as the fan-favorite sweet shop undergoes a major refurbishment in preparation for the 50th Anniversary.

Disney has not shared an update on when the construction will be completed, but, for now, guests who are still looking for some of the iconic treats and snacks can find them at the Main Street Cinema.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
This week, there will also be some closures impacting the Disney World hotels! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is now open to all guests, however, both the monorail station and entrance area have remained closed with no projected completion date just yet.

And, Disney’s Contemporary Resort is still undergoing refurbishments that have resulted in the closure of the rooms in the main tower and The Wave…of American Flavors (though the full breakfast menu is currently available at California Grill).

Disney is also continuing to make improvements at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. So, guests can expect the port cochere to be closed this week along with the closure of the main lobby area soon. In the meantime, guests are being directed to curbside check-in at the Disney Vacation Club Preview Center and all front desk and concierge services will move to the hallway.

Plus, over at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, there are also a few refurbishments taking place resulting in the closure of the den area located near the lobby until work then begins on the lobby, at which point check-in services will move to the den.

Of course, we’ll continue to keep an eye out for other closures impacting the Disney Resorts, so be sure to check back with us to know what closures may impact your stay!
