The situation with wearing face masks at Disney World has continued to evolve, but earlier this summer, it seemed that face masks would no longer be required anywhere at the resort, except in certain situations.

After that, we noticed that many Disney World stores had face masks on sale– buy one, get one free. But then the CDC guidance changed, suggesting that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, should wear a mask indoors again.
As a result, Disney World changed its policy to require all guests to wear masks indoors. And as we’ve found out today, this change in policy has resulted in a mask shortage. We were shopping at the Emporium at Magic Kingdom today and noticed that there were no masks to be seen.

We later overheard a Cast Member say that the store had completely sold out of masks. We confirmed this with a Cast Member who said that he didn’t believe there were any left for sale in the Magic Kingdom. He also told us that he expected that all parks would be out of masks by the end of the week.

In the meantime, the Emporium was selling basic disposable masks to guests for $2 each at the counter. Those might be the only type of mask available for purchase in the meantime. The Cast Member was unsure when the Disney masks would be back in stock in the parks.

So for the time being, if you planned on going to Disney World and buying a mask there, you’re likely out of luck. Our best recommendation is to bring your own masks with you so that you’ll have what you need. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated.
