Kali River Rapids

When it gets chilly in the winter, Disney tends to close their water rides for scheduled refurbishment. It’s a good opportunity to take advantage of quieter crowds! Kali River Rapids is temporarily unavailable for this yearly maintenance.

Walt Disney World Railroad

The iconic Walt Disney World Railroad remains closed while construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run continues. The train has now been closed for over 2 years, as TRON’s construction interrupts its path through Tomorrowland.

Train in Fantasyland Station

There’s no official reopening date, as it will likely depend on when TRON’s construction wraps up. However, TRON’s opening date reportedly delayed, so we may not get to experience this classic attraction again until 2022.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

This fan-favorite Magic Kingdom attraction was first closed in March 2020 and anticipated to reopen in July. Instead, it was added to Disney’s refurbishment calendar, and its closure has been extended multiple times since then.

PeopleMover

The current anticipated reopening is February 28th, 2021. That’s almost a year after its initial closure! However, we did see the PeopleMover being tested, so we’re hoping it will open on schedule this time.

The Hall of Presidents

In a time-honored tradition, the Hall of Presidents is closed in order to install an audio-animatronic of President Joe Biden. This show features every United States president, so it needs to be updated each election season.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments

We’re seeing a lot of work being done at Disney’s resorts. At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, the entryway, lobby, and monorail station are all being refurbished. The guest rooms will also receive a Moana-inspired room update. This project will continue into this summer. Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area is also closed for construction — it should reopen at the end of March.

Some pools are also receiving makeovers! The Paddock Pool waterslide at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa is being refurbished, but the pool area will remain open throughout the construction.
