Disney Pic of the Week: Return of the Epcot Pylons

Disney often replaces things at Walt Disney World to never to be seen again. While I understand change and upgrades to make the guest experience more enjoyable, I do miss the old things, too. Which made the return of the Epcot Pylons on top of the waterfall attraction in front of Spaceship Earth a welcomed surprise when Disney announced the re-imagined Epcot in 2019.

Spaceship Earth Pylons
New Epcot Pylons in front of Spaceship Earth at Epcot’s Future World in Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Nikon D750/24-120VR, 1/125s, f/8, ISO 100, EV 0, 120mm Focal Length.

When I visited in September of 2020, the pylons were still behind construction walls. I moved back far enough and extended my zoom lens to its longest setting to crop out the walls. I am looking forward to the time the walls disappear.

Do you remember the original Epcot pylons? Were they smaller or larger then the new ones?
