If you’ll be heading to Disney World soon, you’ll need to keep in mind that Disney World hotel guests no longer receive free MagicBands for their resort stays.
Instead, Disney hotel guests can reuse an old MagicBand throughout their stay, they can purchase a new MagicBand of their choice, they can select from a number of MagicBands that are made available to them at a discount, OR they can opt to not use a MagicBand at all. If you opt not to use a MagicBand at all, you can get a Key to the World card to use to unlock your room and more. And now there are brand new Key to the World card designs featuring some classic Disney characters.
Key to the World cards are free, special cards you can get to use during your stay at a Disney World hotel. These cards can help you open your hotel room door and do other things, like charge purchases to your room.
These cards have had a variety of designs over the years, and now they’ve got a BRAND NEW look! The cards now come in a variety of different colors and feature Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto in the animated style of the new Mickey Mouse cartoons.
This is also the same type of animated style that is used for these characters over at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
The Cast Member who spoke with us today said that these cards just arrived yesterday, and they are anticipating more designs coming in the future. Also, keep in mind that the Cast Member noted they cannot let people pick out what character design they want. Instead, you will receive a random card. But, you could potentially do some trading with friends and family members to collect them all if that’s your goal!
We’ll keep an eye out for more updates all around Disney World and let you know what we see.

Is a KTTW card free if staying off-site?
I absolutely hate the new animation style – I would never buy any kind of merchandise etc with it on, it’s just grotesque. My kids who are 9 and 12 don’t like it either.
