Walt Disney World reopened in July with thorough health and safety protocols.

Tower of Terror

Attractions, dining, and shopping underwent major changes as Disney encouraged physical distancing and increased sanitation. Many attractions reopened with health procedures already in place. Travel groups were separated from each other on some rides and plexiglass barriers were installed between seats on others. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has been given a slight safety update to the ride vehicles.

Guests are seated in every other row on the Tower of Terror. While capacity was low, crowds had also decreased considerably since the parks reopened. The wait times for the Tower of Terror were only slightly affected. As the months go by, crowds have increased at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the other theme parks at Disney World. Wait times have slowly trended upward as more people visit the parks and ride capacity stays the same. This week, the line for Tower of Terror extended far beyond the attraction’s queue.

New plexiglass pieces were placed in the Tower of Terror vehicles between aisles and splitting the back row in half. This allows for barriers between guests on either side. This could mean Disney is beginning to adjust to the increased crowds. The new barriers may allow for more guests to fit on the ride while still being separated by plexiglass.

Disney will continue to make subtle adjustments while crowds increase and safety protocols change. We’ll be on the lookout for changes like this and inform you of any updates!
