UPDATED! Disney World Announces the Opening Dates for Its Resort Hotels!

UPDATED 5/28: Disney has confirmed that their original statement that resort hotels would be reopening on July 11th was done in error. While Disney Vacation Club Resort hotels, as well as Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds, will be reopening on June 22nd, there is currently no confirmed reopening date for the other Disney World Resort hotels.

Disney World has announced its proposal for a phased reopening, starting on July 11th for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom and July 15th for Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

While Disney has already stated the details on its health and safety guidelines, suspension of entertainment, and relaxation zones in the parks, now we have more news about the Disney resorts reopening soon!

During this time, Disney resorts and hotels will not be taking new reservations. Instead, they will be focusing on the guests who have already booked their stays in Disney World and have existing reservations. However, Disney Vacation Club members can still make new reservations. The Disney Vacation Club properties at Walt Disney World, along with Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, will reopen on June 22nd.

  1. Question- Did anyone else have an upcoming reservation for a resort that is closed? If so, were you charged the difference to change to an open resort? I called on 6.22 bc we needed to modify our parkhopper passes, the cast member had us switch resorts (from CB to FW cabins) and pay the difference, but I am getting conflicting information from a travel agent and another cast member. Help? I sent an email to guest services to no avail…

  2. Reservations Port Orleans French Quarter at Christmas. Now I hear that resort is not opening. Don’t you think Disney should be contacting us about this. I would hope they will accommodate us at another resort.

  3. We’ll be staying at AKL, but so far that property isn’t opening back up so hopefully because of the lack of dining plan and everything else we’ll be able to upgrade to the villas.

On a more positive note I have my park pass and tickets all set up for our trip the end of October. I’m still really up up in the air with everything considering my tickets are park hopper and that won’t be available either.

But Disney is magical after all, hopefully they’ll be able to help us out!

  4. We are scheduled (with park tickets) for Nov. 9-14 @ AS Sports. This resort is not on the reopening list….not sure what will happen.

  5. We actually have a trip booked June 22-27 (go figure?!) at the poly – special treat for our boys who just graduated HS and missed the senior trip to NYC they been working and paying for all year. Feel totally in the dark by Disney – guess I’ll try and call tomorrow?!

  6. We have a reservation at Coronado Springs in August. Looks as though we may be displaced by the NBA! Just wondering where we’ll be offered an alternate stay.

  7. We were scheduled to go in March. Needless to say that was cancelled. Luckily, I had booked September last fall. Our reservation has tickets with Park Hoppers and free dining. We received an e-mail yesterday. They are going to cancel our dining and not sure about the park hoppers.Making reservations to go to a Park, wearing a mask in that heat, shorter hours, no parades, no extras.. Definitely not worth the money. Looks like a staycation is in order.

  8. I had a reservation for April they cancelled that I then made a reservation for July 03/09 they are not opening until July 11, Now I want to go July 18/25 because my vacation year ends in July and if I don’t use it I loose it,I’ve switched my flight reservations and I can’t get any help with this going forward with Disney can anyone help us

    1. If your reservation is with a DVC resort, you need to call the DVC number. If it is not a resort, I was told they are not going to open with the parks. I had a July reservation at Pop that has completely been cancelled-dining plan, resort stay, fast passes, dining reservations.

  9. Disney hotels are very expensive, but I always found them to be worthwhile because their benefits include a 60-day fast pass window and extra magic hours. I always make sit-down lunch and dinner reservations months in advance. With fast passes, extra magic hours, and dining reservations cancelled by Disney I am foregoing my scheduled trip in late summer. It is not worth spending several thousand dollars to go on only 2 or 3 rides a day and eat fast food at a hot, dirty, uncomfortable outside table for every meal.

  10. We had 07/02 and when the announcement was made we changed to 07/15
Now, with the correction of the Resort Hotel Opening Dates. I’m not sure what we’re looking at.
Wish us luck? Good luck to all of you.

  11. My husband and I have July 9 to 12 Ft. Wilderness reservations. We also have the dining plus plan and reservatuons at some of the resorts for some of our meals. Hopefully they are open by then.

  12. We have reservations at Jambo DVC in the middle of August. Being at Disney even with all the changes is still BEING AT DISNEY! We’re just going to go with the flow.

  13. Any idea if you’re still able to make reservations BEFORE the 1st phase reopening in July? We’re supposed to make our reservations next week for our 2021 stay (we hit our 499 day mark on Wednesday)

  14. Have November reservation but will be changing it if there still wont be parades , meet and greets . fireworks and only park reservations . I will reschedule But so glad to see there is a start to bringing the magic back ..

  15. I have reservations for early December (5 – 11) but have not bought park tickets yet (was waiting to purchase through Shades of Green) I hope we can get tickets and get in the parks on the days we have planned – otherwise we will cancel.

  16. We made reservations a few weeks ago for July 28th, we were staying off resort originally and already had to move vacation from early april. Decided to stay for 4 nights on resort in case they phased it like this. Glad we did, but not to happy to see shortened hours. Does that mean my tickets don’t cost as much…

    1. We were going during your dates and staying at Pop Century. But we just cancelled. Too many Corona restrictions for it to be worth the money. And we won’t spend our vacation wearing a mask. Enjoy. We just made it less crowded for you.

  17. I have reservations June 20-27 at Saratoga. I hope that means we can stay part of it, but will we be allowed in the parks?

    1. We have reservations at Caribbean Beach from August 7th-August 15th, but may be moving our trip to February instead. Not sure yet. I don’t want to wear a mask in the August heat.
