Tips about Magic Kingdom, Mousecellaneous and Transportation
Magic Kingdom - Some people don't realize that many of the table service restaurants in the parks seat until park closing. We have found it's nice to have a late lunch, and then after watching the evening parade at the Magic Kingdom, go to the Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. We've always been able to get seated as soon as we go in, even without reservations. When we've finished our wonderful meal, the park is practically empty and we can take our time walking down Main Street and not fighting a crowd. It really makes a nice, stress-free ending to an enjoyable day. - Stacey Kiefer

Save those receipts! Twice our receipts from food service locations at Walt Disney World included a 20 percent off total merchandise purchase (from store opening to 1 p.m.) coupon at the bottom, good at select locations, good through January 5. This happened at both Pizza Planet in Disney's Hollywood Studios and also at the Electric Umbrella at Epcot. - Cheyenna
EDITOR'S NOTE: This promotion usually runs several times a year. Be sure to check if your receipt is one that has the coupon.

All of us who've driven a rental car to any of the massive Disney World parking lots know how difficult it can be to find your car in a sea of similar looking vehicles (especially after a full day of walking through the parks). Here's an idea if you have a digital camera: When you arrive, take a picture with your digital camera of where the car is parked. Use whatever background that's present as your focal point (say it's the left side of Spaceship Earth at Epcot or the Monorail at Magic Kingdom, etc.) and the lot marking. At the end of the day, all you have to do is scroll through the camera's memory and you'll easily find where you are! - Joanne and Cliff
EDITOR'S NOTE: This idea works great for recording your resort room number as well!

Velcro makes a 3/4-inch x 10-foot roll with the hooks on one side and the loops on the other so it sticks to itself. I bought mine in Walmart but I've also seen it in Home Depot. I cut it off in one-foot lengths to attach a mug or folded windbreaker to my belt loop. It has a hundred uses, and rolls up to fit in a pocket or backpack. - Brian Phillips

For UK visitors: First-time visitors should be aware -- always have some dollars in cash when arriving at Orlando (particularly Sanford), for the toll booths on the way. - suenruss

Hang on to your hat! My husband wears a baseball cap to prevent sunburn. He was astounded to have it fly off his head on the Tower of Terror. He was very relieved he caught it. What he didn't realize was that our brand new annual passes had been in his front shirt pocket. They, too, had levitated. Fortunately, the Cast Member saw them and called our names. WHEW! - TJ

To find your car in the parking lot, whether it be your own or a rental, bring/buy one of the giant sunshades to put in the front window. This is great to help keep the sun from shining in the car all day -- but also it really makes it easy to find your car at the end of the day in the parking lot! We bought a great Disney one -- it folds fairly flat and packs easily in the suitcase! - Kelley Kriesel

Having dinner a bit late? Are the boats and buses packed or not running? Kids tired and cranky? Raining out? Hands full with strollers and baby gear? Don't let the stress of trying to get back to your hotel ruin the entire day. Consider taking a cab from wherever you are dining back to your resort. It's pretty inexpensive when you think about it. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge this past January and were having dinner at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. It was myself, my wife, and my 4-year-old and 4-month-old daughters. The little one fell asleep earlier and the older one was cranky and tired. Never fear! We walked out the front of the hotel and asked the valet to get a cab for us. They saw we had a large stroller so they asked for a van. We didn't even have to fold the stroller up. The driver picked up the whole thing and put it in the back. Five minutes later we were at our hotel and it was $5 plus tip. We did it again later in our trip from the Contemporary and it was $8 plus tip. Well worth it because we ended our day with a smile. - Fred Block

If you are able to choose your own rental, choose one with an out-of-state license plate. Then, when there are many cars of the same color and same make, you can identify your car by the state it is from. - Joyce Troxell

I always ask for a rental car in an "unpopular" color -- I clarify this to the clerk by explaining that I don't want black, silver, or white. Red is okay, but green is great, because so few rental cars come in green! - Elizabeth Smock

Like many folks do, we rent a car when visiting WDW. So many of these rentals look the same in the mega-sized parking lots. What my family does is make our rental stand out from all the others. I will tie a few streamers of orange surveyor's tape from the radio antenna and hang a gaudy colored bandanna from the rear view mirror. I have also tried tying a balloon from the antenna, but sometimes it popped before our return. - Pete Gerry

For $.79 at your local Target store you can purchase a clear plastic coupon holder in the office supply department. It's 5" x 7" in size, has a Velcro closure, and is perfect for holding your tickets, money, etc. It keeps everything from getting wet on the water rides and is easy to find in your backpack! I never go to WDW without mine! - Noreen Rachuba
EDITOR'S NOTE: Magic Bands eliminate the need to carry many cards, but for those you do, this is a great suggestion.

I brought Dawn DishWipes with us and washed out our refillable mug in our room sink every night. My mug just never felt truly clean on any of our other trips when I would just rinse it well with hot water. The wipes come in a clear plastic box and are dry, so I just put a bunch in a Ziploc bag. We had great luck booking the Illuminations Cruise over the years. We have done it several times. This year we booked the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise. I think it is a little more available. We enjoyed it much more. There was a lot more "cruising" before the show and the backdrop of the castle and Magic Kingdom was fantastic. - Margaret

ALL PARKS - I just returned from a trip to WDW. The 3M Company now has a new Post-It Flag Highlighter that includes both a highlighter and Post-It flags in one. It was PERFECT for marking the maps to the parks. I would circle the attraction number with the highlighter and then put a Post-It flag on the number on the map. They are see-though, so they don't cover up the number. The "pen" fit perfectly in my fanny pack! - Leah Price
