For all WDW visitors from the UK -- try to find jet-setting friends who will bring you home US coins, quarters especially, because when you land at Orlando they're jolly useful for tolls. Saves having to worry about splitting paper money when you're tired and the kids can't wait to get to Mickey! - Rosie, Northampton, UK

We're headed down to the world very soon and we've been looking for ways to cut costs. At home, we've found you can save a lot by drinking water. Well, we find the water in Florida to taste a little funny because of the high content of sulfur so we didn't want to do that, but suddenly I remembered those little drink flavoring packets they have now to put into bottled water. The Crystal Light brand says to mix with 16.9 oz. of water but I've found I can go up to 24 oz. and it still tastes strong enough for me. Kool-Aid also makes the individual packets now for the kids and I noticed several other brands at the store. I can't wait to go down and use these. With drinks costing anywhere from $1.50 to around $5.00, I think this will be a huge savings for us! - Terri Daugherty

When we wanted to make a trip to WDW but finances were really tight, my husband said we could manage if we could keep the expenses the same as our trip two years earlier. I asked him to write down what we spent in each of four major categories -- food, tickets, souvenirs and gasoline. We always stay in Fort Wilderness in our RV so would be able to cook meals as often as we wanted. I made a chart with four columns, a title on each and the amount of money we had spent on the previous trip at the head of each column. We explained the plan to our sons and included the reality that even if we had not spent half the gas money by the time we got to Florida, we could not move gas money to another category because the price might be different on the way home. Each day I subtracted our expenses from the appropriate column so we had a running balance. I saw the boys check the chart daily to see what money was left. Their requests for food and souvenirs were much less extravagant than on previous trips and we got home under budget. - Jan Easterly

I recently made reservations for a trip to Disney in January. Being Florida residents, we go every year and use the discount. This year, for some reason, I decided to ask if there was a AAA discount on hotels and if it was different than the Florida resident discount. Come to find out (much to my surprise!) there is a difference and AAA was a little cheaper. I don't think they offer the AAA discount at every hotel, but we were looking at one of the All Star resorts. Oddly enough, we could only choose between the Music and Sports to use our AAA discount. So, for anyone out there who is a Florida resident and also has AAA, make sure you ask about it. - Charlene

Three of the restaurants at Disney Springs (Fulton's Crab House, Wolfgang Puck Cafe, and Portobello Yacht Club) are operated by the same parent company, Levy Restaurants. They have a Preferred Frequent Dining Program that you can use at any of those three restaurants and earn points that can be traded in for gift cards, etc. http://www.levyrestaurants.com - Erick

It's helpful to know prices that others got and on what dates, what hotels are in the different zones, and to read reviews from other travelers about the hotels that Priceline offers. - Christina

For those "financially challenged," who accumulate Hilton HHonors points, a WDW 4-day Magic Your Way pass can be purchased for 65,000 points per adult, and 55,000 points per child. Given that 65,000 points also buys $150 worth of gift certificates at Bloomingdale's or Sharper Image, or two nights in a Category 4 hotel, I think it's a pretty good deal for a park hopper pass. We're looking forward to using these passes in October on our first trip in two years!

Don't stay at the Hilton family of hotels frequently? They also offer American Express and Visa Rewards cards at no annual fee. The AmEx card gives you 3 points per dollar (5 points for charges at their hotels). Visa is 2 points per dollar (3 points for hotel charges). When we went to WDW on vacation last year, I packed one suitcase full of snacks and non-perishable food (i.e. mini cereal boxes, cereal bars, various pre-packaged snack packs, juice boxes). Our entire family was able to eat a quick breakfast before going to the parks, have mid-day park munchies, and late evening snacks. The suitcase was then used to bring home dirty laundry at the end of the trip. - Julie Duffy

My tip of the week goes along with this week's tip to pay off your vacation ahead of time... I pay it ahead using my Disney Visa card, then pay off thecard at the end of the month. Then, I can redeem the Disney Reward dollars ahead of time and take THEM to Disney World along with us. It's not only a tip, but a pretty dollarless tip, too. Consider having dessert for dinner! If you're on a budget, but your tummy's growling about 4:30 or 5 p.m... if you don't have time or money for a sit-down dinner... if you don't want to get loaded down with meat and potatoes... have dessert for supper! Find one of those awesome coffee and sweet shops located in every park, let each child order their own personal favorite, and go for a pick-me-up latte or mocha for the grown-ups! Everyone is full and recharged, and you've spent about $20 (maybe a little more if kids drink milk with their sweets, but if it's hot, water is much better!). Plus your kids will never forget the evening Mom and Dad let them have ice cream for supper at Disney World! - Natalie Lipman

When we were planning our trip to Disney World, we made our reservations at one of the hotels that was on Disney property. Our family is on a budget so it was hard for us to try to save all at once. I called the hotel and asked if I could send so much money each month. The money we sent went towards the hotel bill, like a prepayment. So each month I sent money towards our stay. I made the reservation a year in advance therefore we had all year to send the money. Well, we went to Disney World at New Year's and guess what? Our room was already paid for!
