Walt Disney World Resort has announced the multi-year transformation of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs, a unique destination that will treat guests to significantly more shopping, dining and entertainment amid beautiful open-air promenades, meandering springs and waterfront charm. Disney Springs will feature an eclectic and contemporary mix from Disney and other noteworthy brands. From boutique shops to unique flagship anchor stores, guests will be able to explore a variety of shopping, dining and entertainment experiences and discover options unlike any other currently available in Central Florida.

Disney World announces 2013 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration

Walt Disney World has announced the dates of its 2013 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration -- May 9 to 12 (Mother's Day weekend) -- and like last year, attendance is by invitation only. For mommy bloggers, #DisneySMMoms is among the most coveted conferences. Participants learn from speakers who are experts in the fields of online publishing, blogging, communications and marketing. Chris Brogan - president of Human Business Works, New York Times best-selling author and consultant -- has been a featured speaker at the past three events. Other speakers have included Matt Jacobson, head of market development at Facebook; Ridley Pearson, the author of the "Kingdom Keepers" series for young adults and many other novels; Rene Syler, former CBS' The Early Show Anchor and webmaster of Goodenoughmother.com; supermodel Kathy Ireland; and wedding designer David Tutera.

MyMagic+ Latest in Innovation in the Evolution of the Disney Guest Experience

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is using technology to make it easier than ever before for guests to make the most of their Walt Disney World visit. Many of these efforts fall under the umbrella of MyMagic+, including the introduction of new MagicBands. These wristbands connect all the vacation choices guests make online with the website/app My Disney Experience, including FastPass+ access.

AP Discounts Change in 2013

Passholder discounts on merchandise will change effective January 1, 2013. There will be a 10 percent discount on select merchandise at Walt Disney World locations. This means a reduced discount for Premier Passport and Premium Annual Passholders, who previously received a 20 percent discount. (Note that the 20% discount remains at Disneyland Resort.)

The Village People and Tommy Roe Among Acts to Rock Flower Power Stage

A blooming bounty of festival firsts will welcome Disney guests to the 20th Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival presented by HGTV March 6-May 19, 2013 at Walt Disney World Resort. Throughout the 75-day garden party, guests will discover festival surprises around every corner including new topiary triumphs, colorful garden displays, a butterfly bounty, HGTV celebrity designers, interactive gardening seminars and whimsical children's play areas. On weekends, top Flower Power rockers of the 1960s and '70s will perform, including new to the festival this year: The Village People and Tommy Roe!

Taping of Orlando segments of Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade expected later this month

It may just be the start of November, but the folks at Walt Disney World and Disneyland are busy planning and taping segments for this year's Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade, which airs -- you guessed it! -- on Dec. 25. However, the Christmas special traditionally is taped in California in early November and in Orlando the first weekend in December. That looks like the case again this year. According to an organization representing hundreds of student musicians and dancers scheduled to perform in the parade, taping will take place Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1. Sunday, Dec. 2 is earmarked as the rain date.
