When it comes to visiting theme parks, there are a few things that bother guests more than long wait times. They often top lists of the biggest guest complaints and have led to the creation of services like Disney’s Lightning Lanes and Universal’s Express Pass.

Speaking of Universal, the Universal Orlando app offers a neat wait-times hack that lets you plan your day to your specifications and, in turn, save yourself hours in the park!
You’re probably already aware that the Universal Orlando App allows you to see the current wait times for each ride at each of the resort’s theme parks.

However, did you know that the app also allows you to set Wait Time Alerts?
Wait, What’s a Wait Time Alert?
The app will tell how long the wait is for a given ride, and then allow you to select a lower wait time. The app will then send you a push notification when the ride hits that wait time. For example, let’s say Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure is at 90 minutes when you view it. You can set the app to send a Wait Time Alert when the wait time hits any lower time, like, say, 60 minutes. That way, you can hop over Hagrid’s for a lesser wait.
This way, you can go through and set alerts for wait times that match what you’re willing to wait for each ride and never end up “over-waiting” for anything. So you’ll be able to spend your day exactly as you want to, waiting exactly as long as you want to, for the exact rides you want to.
So if you’re a big Spider-Man fan, you may be willing to wait 45 minutes for the ride…

… while someone who’s lukewarm on coasters may only be willing to wait no more than 15 minutes for The Incredible Hulk.

Either way, you can get alerts for when the ride reaches your ideal wait time without having your head in your phone, checking wait times for the entire day. Simply wait for the familiar chime of a push notification, and away you’ll go.

Next time you find yourself at Universal, be sure to set up Wait Time Alerts inside the Universal Orlando App, so you can plan your day around the ideal wait times you’re willing to wait for each ride. Stay tuned to AllEars for more Universal tips!
