Many people are in the process of planning their 2026 trips to Disney World, and with so much changing in the parks almost constantly, it’s sometimes hard to keep track of what’s going on.

That’s where we come in! We’re in Disney World nearly every single day to keep you updated on the latest dining news, new discounts to help you save money, and, with so much construction happening, updates on what to expect when you visit. If you’re planning to make a special trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2026, we have to warn you that there are a LOT of attractions we already know will be closed — here’s what to watch out for.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
Ah, yes, the current version of our beloved intense coaster (the only one with an inversion in Disney World) will be going away in early 2026, though no date has been officially announced just yet.
Now, wait! Don’t panic! This ride isn’t going away as a whole. The ride system is staying the same, but Disney is switching over from Aerosmith to the Muppets — specifically, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

Disney fans are pretty split on how they feel about this update, but regardless, Disney has given the green light, and it’s happening. The current opening timeline for the new version of this ride is Summer 2026 (again, no official date yet), which is pretty ambitious, as Disney has confirmed that the ride will stay open throughout 2025.

What we know about this ride so far, other than its overall theming change and its opening timeline, is that we’ll be seeing Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem attempt to make it on time to their concert, and that we’ll see a Scooter animatronic in the booth, along with Penguin audio engineers, and another animatronic of another Muppet somewhere in the attraction may be being kept a secret by Disney.
We also know that guests are getting a VIP tour of G-Force Records, now under new management by The Muppets, which has a new look since Scooter’s uncle, real estate tycoon and owner of the Muppet Theatre, J.P. Grosse, has taken over. Based on a new poster of Muppet signatures, we’re also crossing fingers that we’ll see Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and some other Muppet friends.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on this new version of the ride as we hear more!
Muppets Courtyard
Since the Muppets are moving over to Sunset Blvd, that means it was time for Muppets Courtyard to say goodbye. This was devastating for many Disney fans, as Muppet*Vision 3D was the last attraction Jim Henson, creator of the Muppets, had a direct hand in before he passed, and the land was overall just full of nostalgia for many. The land as a whole closed on June 8th, and is now being reimagined into something completely new — a Monsters, Inc. themed land!

The potentially teased new name for this land is Monstropolis, but Disney hasn’t 100% confirmed that. We do know that this land will be home to new dining and shopping options for guests to enjoy, and from concept art, it looks like something (maybe a new show?) will be going into the former Muppet theatre. However, we do know for sure that this new land will be home to Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster, which will allow guests to experience riding on a door like Mike and Sulley do in the iconic scene from the film!

Construction is already well underway for the new land, but we’ve still got a while to go. While no official opening timeline has been announced just yet, we do know that we’re looking at this area of the park remaining closed through about 2027.
Animation Courtyard
More recently, Disney also closed the majority of the Animation Courtyard to make way for the new Walt Disney Studios area. During this closure, the only two attractions that will remain open are The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure and Walt Disney Presents.

This new area of the park will bring guests The Magic of Disney Animation, a Drawn to Wonderland playground, and a fresh version of Disney Junior Play & Dance. The best part? It’s currently slated to open sometime in 2026, though no official date has been announced.

It’s important to note that during this closure, there are fewer offerings for small children in the park, as all the Disney Jr. meet and greets have not moved elsewhere. These characters are also now gone from Hollywood & Vine, where you could previously meet them at breakfast (instead, it’s now Minnie’s Seasonal Dine all meals of the day). While we are relieved the beloved Disney Jr. Play and Dance show will return to this new section of the park, along with the new playground that will be wonderful for kids, this park may be harder to entertain young ones in for many months.
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
Tons of changes are arriving on May 22nd, 2026, to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, and this is a change many Disney fans (especially Star Wars fans) are looking forward to. Beginning on this date, there will be new adventures with The Mandalorian and Grogu to experience on the ride!

Now, Disney has not announced a set-in-stone closure to make the transition between the current version of the ride and the new one, and it’s possible there may not be a closure at all! This would mean Disney is likely only testing the new experience at night when the park is closed. However, it’s also very possible Disney just hasn’t announced the brief closure yet, so this is something to keep an eye on, especially if you’re planning to visit in April or early to mid-May of 2026.
