BEWARE of These Disney World Hotel Red Flags

There are so many options of where to stay on property at Walt Disney World!

You can choose between three main categories: Deluxe, Moderate, and Value. You are sure to find a hotel that will fit your needs! Sometimes there are red flags that you should look out for when you are planning which hotel to stay at.

While these red flags might not be a bad thing for you, they are just something to keep in mind to make sure that you find a resort that suits you and your party’s needs.

Themed Resorts

While it can be argued that all resorts on the property have a theme, some are more heavily themed than others. For example, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort has four sections themed around Disney movies. The All-Star Resorts have heavy theming of movies, music, and sports. 

This theming is more than just the rooms, but also big character statues and fun-themed pools. These are not a bad thing, and can be appealing to families with children!

Since these resorts do have heavy themes like a whole section dedicated to Cars, these resorts are going to have a lot more children. Again, this is not a bad thing, but if you are looking for a more quiet resort, you might want to look at a resort with less theming.

On the other hand, this might be a green flag for you as you might want a resort that has great theming, especially for children to be able to recognize that they are staying at a Disney World hotel!

Big Resorts

Some Disney World resorts are huge! For example, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa and Disney’s Old Key West Resort are very spaced out. You might even find yourself getting lost!

Since they are so spread out, you can be further from the action. You can request to be closer to a pool or the main lobby, but you still have to walk to be at the hub of everything.

If you want to be in a resort that connects to the lobby, you might want to consider staying in a resort like Disney’s Riviera Resort or over at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in the Gran Destino Tower. These are great options if you want to be able to take an elevator ride right down to the lobby.

Resorts with Restaurants in the Lobby

While you may want to be in the main building of a resort, it is also important to think about noise levels. Some resorts have dining rooms in the main lobby.

For example, if you stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in the main building you may hear noise and music from Chef Mickey’s. The same goes for Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, as you could hear noise from Whispering Canyon Café. 

While it can be nice to be so close to these dining experiences and be right where the action is, it can also mean hearing lobby noise in your room.

Resorts with Bus Loops

Some resorts have multiple bus stops instead of just one stop. Resorts like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort just have one stop.

If you stay at a resort like Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, or Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, or even at the Tree House Villas you might find yourself on a long bus ride.

This is because a bus needs to stop at all of the other bus stops in the resort before heading off to its destination. This also means that on your way back when you are tired and just want to get to your room, that you will have to wait for people to get off at the other stops.

You can always request a room by a specific bus stop if you would prefer to be at the first, last, or even middle stops. This is never guaranteed but it does not hurt to ask!

Check for Refurbishments

Certain experiences at Disney World inevitably need to close for refurbishment, and the resorts are not exempt from this.

When choosing where you are going to stay, make sure to check the Disney World website on each resort page to see when refurbishments will be taking place.

Refurbishments can close down restaurants, shops, and pools. It is always good to check to make sure these are open when you are visiting!

These are not to deter you from staying on property at Disney World, but instead, some things to look out for when planning your trip.
