With new CDC guidance on masks for fully vaccinated people and updated state health guidelines in Florida, Disney has been making adjustments to its mask policies and physical distancing requirements, which means that the ride queues and experiences are changing once again.

And, one of the rides that has been impacted is the popular attraction, Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. So, we’re covering everything that you can expect now when it comes to physical distancing on the ride. Let’s get to it!
When Disney World reopened last year, Disney installed distancing markers in many of the queues, and Rise of the Resistance was no different. The markers are spaced 6 feet apart in the long queue for the ride and do still remain there today.

And, while many of the pre-shows were suspended on the attractions, guests still get their orders from Poe, Rey, and BB-8 in the first pre-show, and take a ride on a transporter for the second pre-show. But, there is one major difference in both now. Previously guests were assigned a distancing dot color to stand on in the first pre-show…

…and before loading to the transporter…

…and when inside the transporter.

But, now those dots have been removed. Instead, guests are asked to fill up all of the available space in the first pre-show…

…and are then moved into the transporter where the plexiglass has been removed and they can stand wherever there is room.

After you’re through the two pre-shows, the distancing measures remain unchanged on the First Order ship where you are directed to stand on a specific colored dot.

But, we had a different experience when it comes to distancing on the ride itself. As a party of one, we were paired with another party of two and asked to keep one seat of distance between us in the same row of the ride vehicle.

Previously, Disney was only loading one group into each row separated by plexiglass, so this was a change to the process. Though, the plexiglass does still remain to separate the rows.

So, Rise of the Resistance looks a little different now that Disney has begun to reduce physical distancing in the parks and resorts. Keep in mind that you’ll need to have a park pass reservation and secure a Boarding Group at 7AM or 1PM to ride this attraction the next time you visit! And, we’ll continue to keep an eye out for more changes to distancing on rides, so stay tuned for the latest!
