Disney World Just Dropped a FIRST LOOK Inside the New and Improved Buzz Lightyear Ride!

It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for the new version of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin to open up, but now we’re just a few weeks away!

We miss Buzz Lightyear!

Since the ride’s closure, we’ve been closely following along, watching for construction updates, checking in on permits being filed. Well, we have another update for you. Disney just released a video giving us a FIRST LOOK at the ride!

We’ve seen concept art, we’ve seen Imagineers displaying their work, but we’ve never gotten to see actual footage of what it’s going to be like riding the ride…until now. Disney Parks took to Instagram to tease a first look at what you can expect when you head out on your mission.

We can’t wait for this ride to open again

The video starts with an incoming transmission, calling all Space Rangers to hear a new mission briefing that Star Command has issued. That mission has just gotten an upgrade! The beginning doesn’t look much different from before, other than the fact that it just looks touched up and brand-new.

During the transmission, the video shows us the brand-new character on the ride, Buddy, for the very first time! He’s holding up practice targets while slowly rotating his body back and forth. We can’t wait to see Buddy in person — he looks great.

As the video continues, the transmission explains what the new, upgraded mission briefing entails. The first thing mentioned is the new blaster — fully mobile, red or green. The video shows someone holding up the new blasters. We can already imagine how fluid the game will feel.

The transmission continues talking about the targets and how following the dots can help you aim during your mission.

The targets look AMAZING! They’re colorful, they’re animated, and they’ve clearly been upgraded a ton from what we’ve seen before. The transmission reminds us that certain targets are worth more than others, and to keep an eye out for anything that looks “special”.

Something else we saw in the video is the brand-new display of your score. It looks animated, clear, and overall a huge upgrade from what we had before!

The video ends with the brand-new point levels, which they made minor changes to. You can now go above 1 million points at Disney World, just like you can at Disneyland.
