Recently, in Hollywood Studios at Disney World, the fake boulder used in Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular went off its track and rolled towards the audience. A Cast Member was able to block the path of the 400-pound boulder from the audience, but was injured in the process and is now recovering.

Since the incident, the show has been modified to exclude the bolder scene until Disney’s safety team deems the prop safe. We recently visited the show ourselves to see how these safety changes were impacting the show.
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is a fan favorite show in Hollywood Studios where you’re given a besides the scene look at how different movie action scenes happen in real life. There’s even a demonstration of how to safely throw and take punches in a fake fight! Actors will fall from tall buildings and even show off Indiana Jones’s iconic whip.

When we recently saw the 30-minute show, you could see the boulder off to the side, which is where it goes after it completes its run. When Indiana Jones steals the idol and triggers the boulder, the sound effects for the boulder start, along with the fire, but he jumps down below instead of being chased by the boulder.

The scene then ends with the “production crew” coming out and telling Indiana he did a great job. He pops back out, and the show continues as normal.

The other show scenes went on like normal, and even without the boulder scene, we were having a blast watching the incredible performers go through some wild stunts in front of a live audience. It’s definitely worth a visit during your Hollywood Studios day.

We’re glad Disney is making sure everything is safe before continuing with the boulder, but we’re glad we can still see the show in its modified form. We’re wishing a speedy recovery for the injured Cast Member.
