Hollywood Studios Will Look Different As 2 Disney Attractions Permanently Close on September 25th

We can’t believe we’re saying this, but the next five days represent the last time Disney’s Hollywood Studios will exist in its current state. Whoa. That’s a big statement. What does it mean?!

Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios has been going through a transformation this year — it saw the addition of Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After and The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure, and the removal of Muppets Courtyard. Crazy enough, there’s more to come, including the transformation of an iconic Star Wars spot. You have five more days to enjoy it, so head over there ASAP!

Get ready because on September 25th, in FIVE days, Hollywood Studios is going to look entirely different (as if it hasn’t already). The beloved Animation Courtyard is closing to welcome in a newly reimagined version of the area. The new version will bring back more of the “animation” in “Animation Courtyard.”

The entrance into Animation Courtyard

Don’t worry, Ariel fans, The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure will remain open during refurbishment. The same goes for the “Walt Disney Presents” walkthrough. Everything else will close, including the Disney Jr. Play and Dance! building, to welcome a new show. Also, Star Wars fans will want to savor the last bit of Launch Bay, because that will be permanently closing.

The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure

The Star Was Launch Bay building will be replaced by a brand-new experience, The Magic of Disney Animation. Disney states it as, “a place where kids and kids at heart can laugh, draw, dream, and explore animated new experiences. Topping the building will be Mickey’s iconic Sorcerer Hat (just like the real building in California!), which will cast a spell with pixie dust.”

It’s going to be a place meant for all fans of Disney animation, and the beauty of it.  You’ll get to see your favorite animated Disney characters “come to life.” The new attraction will bring guests short film viewings, animated character interactions through portraits, and lessons on drawing Disney characters. (Yep, it’s coming BACK!)

There are going to be tons of characters to meet, as well as areas for families to “play, relax, or snack on tasty treats under lush trees.” There’s also going to be a Drawn to Wonderland playground, an area for kiddos to play on. It’ll be inspired by the original Alice in Wonderland concept art by Mary Blair, and will be an “oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea party playset, and a Tugley Wood exploration area.” How exciting is that?!

The brand-new area is confirmed to open in 2026, which is why the Animation Courtyard, as we know it, will close on September 25th, 2025. Goodbyes are hard, but we can’t wait to see what comes of this new and unique experience. It’s sure to deliver on fun, magic, and nostalgia!
