The Disney Parks are always changing, for better or worse. While there have been some incredible evolutions over the years, some changes haven’t been well-received…

Change is inevitable, but it’ll hardly please everyone. Disney fans are never shy when it comes to sharing their opinions on all things Disney, so when we asked about Disney changes that have made them mad over the years, the responses certainly weren’t shy!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is one of Disney’s most popular theme parks in the world. Featuring the ability to take you to a galaxy far, far away, entertain you with thrilling attractions, and fill your belly with some delicious eats, this theme park has it all. But all that doesn’t mean it’s been smooth operations since it opened in 1989.

When we asked our readers on Facebook, “What’s the ONE Disney World change you’re still mad about years later?”, a lot of the nearly-600 responses were about ride rethemes, removed attractions (R.I.P. The Great Movie Ride), and he decision to charge for FastPass and skip-the-line services. However, the top comment on the question had to do with a removed thematic feature at Hollywood Studios.
Referencing the one Disney change fans are still mad about, reader Kathy wrote, “Getting rid of the sorcerer’s hat.”
Kathy, of course, is referencing the Sorcerer Mickey’s Hat structure in Hollywood Studios, which served as the park’s icon for nearly 15 years. It has now been over a decade since the hat was in the park.

Inspired by Mickey’s famous hat in the 1940 film Fantasia, this landmark was stationed in front of The Great Movie Ride and was ultimately removed as a way to create more space for new offerings and give a clearer view of the replica Chinese Theatre.

The hat stood tall from September 28th, 2001, to January 7th, 2015, and featured Mickey Mouse’s gloved hand and ears that were visible emerging from the ground. During its run, the hat area was used for pin trading, sales, character meet-and-greets, and several special events.

Disney must’ve heard the complaints, because the hat is coming BACK to Hollywood Studios in 2026!
A NEW Sorcerer Mickey’s Hat will be featured in The Magic of Disney Animation, which is set to replace Star Wars: Launch Bay!

The new hat is more of a replication of the hat that sits on the Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California. Inside the building, you’ll find portraits that come to life, a short film, and character sketch tutorials.

The Animation Courtyard overhaul will also include a new Alice in Wonderland-inspired playground, a new version of the Disney Jr. show in the soundstage, and a touch-up of the outdoor courtyard area.

I’m still extremely upset about the Fact that Doc McStuffins will be NoWhere (Found) in the Park. My Disney Experience will Absolutely Never be the Same without Her!
I strongly Hope She’ll be at the Disney Junior Jams on Halloween and Christmas this Year.
