Time is ticking away to see the original Muppets attraction in Disney World.

Last year, Disney announced that 2025 would bring some major closures to Hollywood Studios. Specifically, the legendary Muppet*Vision 3D attraction — the final Muppets project to have been worked on by late creator Jim Henson — along with the Muppet-themed PizzeRizzo restaurant, are closing to make way for a new Monsters, INC. land featuring a recreation of the film’s Monstropolis. In the months since, many fans have gone out of their way to visit the park to experience the attraction one last time, but the opportunity to do that is running out.
Both Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo, along with the rest of the former Muppet Courtyard area, will have their final day of operation on June 7th, and close forever on June 8th.

While the loss of Muppet*Vision 3D is going to have wide-ranging ramifications on the future of Hollywood Studios, the closure of the attraction and PizzeRizzo does not represent the end of the Muppets altogether at Hollywood Studios. In a surprising announcement, Disney also revealed that the Muppets would be moving across the park to take over the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster.

According to Disney, “Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and more of their friends will be moving right along to Sunset Boulevard! The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” and added, “there’s sure to be laughter, screams and new tunes for this attraction for fans to enjoy throughout the adventure and plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise on Sunset Boulevard!”
While we still have some…questions about how exactly the Muppet retheme of the coaster will work, many agree that it’s better for the characters to remain in the park in some capacity, given how popular they are and how important they were to the early development of the park then-known as Disney/MGM Studios.

We’re just weeks away from the permanent closures of Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo, with the final day of operation for both falling on June 7th. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Hollywood Studios’ transformation.
