Hollywood Studios

There are so many exciting and new projects on the horizon at Disney World, and we finally have more information about the two new Hollywood Studios attractions. Plus, we even got some brand-new updates coming to the parks this summer! But that is not all!  A Magic Kingdom ride is about to get some well-deserved TLC. We are so excited about these FIVE BIG announcements!

Disney has been slowly giving us details about its new projects. Often, rather than giving an exact opening date, they release their opening timeline. Well, we have some good news: We now know the exact opening date of two new attractions.

The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure

At the end of 2023, it was announced that The Voyage of The Little Mermaid (which did not reopen with the parks after the COVID closures) would be replaced with a brand-new Little Mermaid show. While the show was set to open in the Fall of 2024, the opening date of this new show would be pushed back until the Summer of 2025.

The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure

The new show, The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, is a fully reimagined theatrical show inspired by the animated movie. It will include a mix of live actors and puppets. It will finally debut in the Animation Courtyard on May 27th, 2025, just in time for summer!

Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After

Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy closed in the Fall of 2024 to make way for the Villains to join the lineup at Hollywood Studios. Race fans, don’t worry, soon Lightning McQueen (along with the Disney Villians will have a home in Magic Kingdom.)

The new Villains show is called Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, and once again, Disney gave an estimated opening date of Summer 2025. Well, May 27th is going to be a popular day at Hollywood Studios, and we suggest making your Park Pass Reservations ASAP (if your park admission still requires it) because, along with the new Little Mermaid show, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After is set to open on May 27th, 2025!

This show will feature 57 Disney Villains and will have live appearances from Captain Hook, Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, and more!

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

Have you been struggling to become a Galactic Hero on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland? Well, it could become even easier to obtain a higher score on this ride, thanks to a lengthy refurb and update.

3 Secret Strategies That Will Help You Become a Galactic Hero in Magic Kingdom

Buzz!

Although we are not sure how we are going to deal with yet another closure at Disney World, we think it is about time that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin gets an update. It was revealed that the attraction would close this August and reopen sometime next year.

Space Ranger Spin

This is not your average refurbishment. When the ride reopens, it will debut new ride vehicles, a new character, and new interactive game features.

In the new version, a new robot named Buddy will welcome you and help play a role in the Star Command team. He will help give riders encouragement and prepare them for their final system checks.

The current Z targets will be updated to new technology and light up when they are hit. Plus, the blasters will switch to being handheld, like they are in the Disneyland version at Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. This change will allow you to aim better, and the blasters will include an “always-on laser” that comes in two different colors per vehicle, as well as new lighting, sound, and vibration effects.

That is not all; even the ride vehicles will be getting an update. The colors of Buzz Lightyear and Star Command will inspire them. In addition to the color change, the vehicles will also have video monitors to provide real-time scoring updates.

  1. The only news I really want to hear is that Disney has finally come to their senses about demolishing Rivers of America and will relocate CarsLand somewhere more appropriate.
