“Aisle Lice” Keep Coming to Our Favorite Place in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and People Will Not Like You if You Are One

If you fly frequently, you might be familiar with “aisle lice.” Essentially, the term refers to the passengers who treat deplaning like a competitive sport — they stand up and start to grab their stuff before the plane doors are even open.

Hello, Hollywood Studios!

But, it turns out that airplanes aren’t the only place where you might run into these pesky people. In fact, “aisle lice” keep coming to our favorite place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios — and people will not like you if you are one.

Aisle lice have made their way to Disney World. Okay, technically aisle lice have probably existed as long as lines have existed, but we’ve certainly been noticing a trend lately — especially at Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ most iconic show.

Fantasmic!

Fantasmic! is an epic nighttime spectacular that takes place in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater. It’s Mickey Mouse’s dream made real, using lights and lasers, fireworks, and water animation set to a delightful score of famous Disney movie music.

It’s a fantastic (ha!) show that’s incredibly popular for a reason — often garnering quite a crowd lining up before the show.

Fantasmic!

But, it’s not before the show where the aisle lice come in — it’s actually after. No matter what time of year we see the show, without fail, people start to get up and leave the theater before the show is actually over.

It’s technically all fine and dandy, and totally allowed by Disney’s rules, but it’s extremely distracting when you’re just trying to enjoy the show!

Fantasmic! crowds

Of course, things happen and we understand that some people might need to leave early for one reason or another, but if you’re simply leaving early to avoid the crowds, try to reconsider! The crowds after Fantasmic! might seem intense, but Disney clears them out multiple times per night, every night, which means they’ve gotten pretty good at being efficient.

Fantasmic! seating

If you’re leaving early because you need to get to a reservation, consider going to a different showtime of Fantasmic! if time allows. At the end of the day, everyone is there trying to enjoy the show, so we should all do our best to make things enjoyable for each other!

  1. Yes! My party just experienced this two weeks ago. Throngs of people started rising to their feet and leaving together, blocking our view, with the show barely more than half over. It was annoying. If they could sit near the back to minimize how many people they block, that would help.

  2. There should be a section for these show disturbed. It’s unacceptable. If you’re afraid if the mass exodus, then stay seated until AFTER the mass exodus and let the rest of us enjoy the entire show!

  3. Well, I am guilty of that. My anxiety is so bad. I love the show, but I just cannot deal with that mass exodus. I don’t see anything wrong with gathering your stuff and staying at your seat on the plane when it lands. I don’t jump in the aisle.
