Disney World is quite the confusing place, we totally get it!

You can do all the research out there and still run into unexpected situations when you’re actually in the parks. That’s why we’re here — to help you prepare for as many of those situations as possible so you’re less lost when the unexpected does occur. If you’re heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios soon, these are the top four mistakes we’re BEGGING you not to make!
Not Rope Dropping Slinky Dog Dash
Normally we say to rope drop whatever attraction you’re most anticipating for the day, but for Hollywood Studios, there is rarely a day we DON’T recommend rope dropping Slinky Dog Dash.

Not only does this ride consistently get some of the longest wait times in the entire park, but during the hotter months, the attraction’s queue is BRUTAL. Unlike other attractions that get long wait times like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Rise of the Resistance, the queue for this ride is almost entirely outside with very little shade.

So any time it’s going to be sunny and hot, get this ride out of the way first OR, if you’re willing to risk it, wait until the sun has gone down and save it for last.
Saying That There Are No Good Quick Service Locations
Listen, Hollywood Studios certainly isn’t known for its fantastic dining options, BUT that’s not to say that they aren’t hiding! If you know where to look, there are some great options that give you a meal that’s a few steps above average without needing a reservation.

Backlot Express is the most average of them all, with tons of options that will please the whole group, but it won’t blow your socks off. ABC Commissary has become a newer favorite of ours because of their slightly more unique dishes — again, will it be anything incredible? Not necessarily, but we do feel its often a step up from Backlot Express (but picky eaters will have a harder time finding something they like).

Over in Galaxy’s Edge, we’re also big fans of Ronto Roasters and Docking Bay 7. These often have some of the best dishes in our opinion, but they very rarely will be picky eater approved.
Using Single Rider for Either Galaxy’s Edge Ride on Your FIRST Time
We’re big fans of the fact that now both the attractions in Galaxy’s Edge have single rider lines. For those of us that frequent the parks often and have been through the regular queues many times, we don’t necessarily need to go through the whole queue to experience it time and time again.

However, if you’re experiencing these rides for the first time, DON’T jump straight to the single rider line, as you’ll miss a large majority of the queue and pre-show, which (especially for Rise of the Resistance) really make the whole experience as amazing as it is. So get yourself to wait in the regular queue (or Lightning Lane) at least for the first time, that way you don’t miss out on anything.
Buying A Droid or Lightsaber First Thing in the Morning
Speaking of Galaxy’s Edge, building a Lightsaber or Droid are two of the coolest and most coveted experiences in the whole park (some would say even the whole resort). We agree that these are incredible experiences for Star Wars fans, but doing either at the very beginning of your day is NOT what we would recommend.

While you get to admire your Droid or Lightsaber all day, it also means you have to carry it around with you ALL day, and that’s not ideal. They get heavy, Lightsabers are especially hard to maneuver, even in their carrying cases, and you’ll likely get annoyed by it quickly. Instead, if you can, we recommend booking either experience for later in the day.

As always, we’re here to help you prepare for your trip as much as possible before you step foot on Disney World property, so stay tuned to AllEars!
