The Locker Rule That Will Change Your Entire Disney World Vacation

Alright, picture this: you’ve just landed at Orlando International Airport (MCO). You’re full of excitement and ready to dive headfirst into your Disney World adventure. You’ve got park tickets in hand, a loose itinerary in mind, and a suitcase. What do you do?

Welcome to Disney World!

Normally, you’d think your only option is to trudge to your hotel first, wait for your room to (hopefully) be ready, and then head to the parks later. But what if I told you there’s a “rule” that will allow you to bypass all of that and start your vacation immediately??

Like we said, there’s a “rule” that’ll have you jump starting your Disney World trip. Here’s the deal: you can skip the hotel, go straight from the airport to the parks, and store your luggage in a locker all day. Yes, really, really. This one simple tip can save you precious time and completely change how you experience your first day at Disney World.

Straight to the Magic

Think about it. Instead of wasting hours waiting for your room, checking in, and unpacking, you could be hopping on your favorite ride or grabbing a Mickey pretzel in the park probably within an hour of landing. All you have to do is book a ride (Uber, Lyft, or Mears Connect) or drive yourself (if you rented a car) directly to the park of your choice.

Now, you’re probably wondering, “What about my luggage? I’m not dragging a suitcase through Magic Kingdom!” And that’s where the locker rule comes in to save the day.

Lock It and Leave It

Every Disney World theme park has locker rentals conveniently located near the front entrance. These lockers come in two sizes:

    • Small lockers: 12″ x 10″ x 17″ for $10 per day
    • Large lockers: 15.5″ x 13″ x 17″ for $12 per day

For luggage, you’ll want the large locker. Renting one is super simple.

Head to the touchscreen kiosk near the lockers, pay with cash or a credit card, and you’ll get a locker assignment. If you want to use a MagicBand or Disney gift card to pay, stop by the nearest merchandise store, and a Cast Member can process everything and hook you up with a code for access.

Once your luggage is stored, you’re free to enjoy the parks unencumbered. No hauling bags, no checking into a hotel, just pure Disney magic from the get-go.

A Game-Changer for Early Arrivals

This hack is especially handy if your flight lands early and your hotel room won’t be ready until late afternoon. Instead of wasting valuable park time, you can maximize your day, hitting rides, shows, and snacks while the clock’s still ticking.

So make sure to:

    • Plan ahead and check the My Disney Experience app for locker locations.
    • Remember to retrieve your luggage before leaving the park at the end of the day!
    • If you’re heading to Disney’s water parks, they also have locker rentals.

Again, if you want to make the most of your Disney World vacation, you might want to skip the hotel pit stop and head straight to the parks and use this locker trick to transform your first day from stressful to magical.

  1. Unless you have a bag that can be stuffed into the locker, you are out of luck. Also, there are few large lockersand they are rented quick so if you follow the advice of this article, you will be stuck at the park with your luggage.

    1. Almost all Disney Hotel have FREE luggage services. I can drop my luggage at my hotel, hop on the free bus service to the park and come back to my room, and guest services delivered my luggage to my room.We have used this many time on our checkout day too. Check out in the morning. Drop my luggage at the front desk, enjoy my last day of vacation. Yes you have to return to the hotel to get your luggage before heading to the airport. I have found it is much easier to get an uber ride to the airport from my hotel than from the park.
