Universal Epic Universe is opening on May 22nd, 2025, and if you’re planning to be there on day one (or really anytime), it’s important to have a strategy and know where you need to go to do what you need to do!

But before you drop some serious coin on tickets and decide to brave the crowds sure to descend on a brand new theme park, you may wanna know a little more about what you’re getting yourself into. And that’s where WE come in! We’re gonna take through all of the twists and turns of this new park and highlight every single roller coaster you don’t want to miss!
Universal Epic Universe, the highly anticipated fourth theme park at Universal Orlando, is set to open in May 2022. This colossal addition joins Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay, making it Universal’s largest U.S. park to date. Epic Universe will feature not only a sprawling theme park but also three hotels, shopping, and a wide variety of food and beverage options.
Universal Studios is known for its white-knuckling thrill rides, and Epic Universe has to measure up to that expectation, so exactly how many roller coasters are coming to Epic Universe, and where can you find them?
Epic Universe will open with five (yep, FIVE) roller coasters. All have different themes and are housed in different portals (or lands) across the theme park.
First up is Stardust Racers in the ethereal Celestial Park section of Epic Universe. Stardust Racers is “a dual-launch racing coaster that sends guests rocketing through the skies aboard comets in a race to see who’s the fastest of them all.” The ride will reach speeds up to 62 mph and heights up to 133 feet along 5,000 feet of track. It is meant to be Epic Universe’s most thrilling coaster experience “with unique maneuvers such as the ‘Celestial Spin,’ in which the two coaster vehicles perform an inverted crisscross while speeding through the air.”

Next, enter the Wizarding World for a chance to experience Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. With its unique combination of massive environments, powerful storytelling and first-of-its-kind ride technology, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry builds upon the historic theme park innovation Universal is known for – and will be one of its most impressive attractions to date. The adventure begins when guests travel by Métro-Floo – a unique mode of wizarding transit inspired by the iconic Floo Network seen in the films – to journey from wizarding Paris to the British Ministry of Magic for the long-awaited trial of the infamous Dolores Umbridge. Upon arrival, guests will enter the Ministry’s jaw-dropping grand atrium and venture through other departments before boarding magical, omnidirectional lifts to watch the trial take place…until Umbridge attempts to escape. Guests then join Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and a house-elf named Higgledy in a thrilling chase that will propel them up, down, forward, backward, sideways and more throughout the Ministry as they try to capture Umbridge – all while dodging attacks from Death Eaters, rampaging creatures and more along the way.

Join your favorite video game heroes in Super Nintendo World and duck, dive, roll, and speed on Donkey Kong: Minecart Madness. This “boom coaster” style ride will allegedly feature the illusion of jumping over sections of missing and broken tracks.

Now, enter the dark, mythical lair of Dark Universe to experience the thrills and terror of classic Universal monsters. Here is where you’ll find The Curse of the Werewolf. This thrilling, family-friendly spinning coaster invites visitors into the eerie world of Darkmoor Village. You’ll be welcomed by Maleva, leader of The Guild of Mystics, who ominously reveals that you bear the mark of the werewolf. From there, you’ll board a wagon-themed coaster and embark on a wild ride through dark, foreboding forests, attempting to outrun a pack of werewolves in a high-energy escape experience.

Still need some thrills? Well, you don’t have to go far, in fact, you can stay in the Dark Universe and jump in line for Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. Universal touts this as their most terrifying attraction yet. This state-of-the-art dark ride takes you deep into the catacombs of Frankenstein Manor, where Dr. Victoria Frankenstein conducts her twisted experiments. As part of a chaotic showcase of her experiments, things go haywire, unleashing a gauntlet of iconic monsters, including Dracula, The Wolf Man, the Gill-man (Creature from the Black Lagoon), and, of course, Frankenstein’s Monster, a towering nine-foot animatronic figure that guests encounter early in the queue.

And those are just the “roller coasters”! Epic Universe will have other rides, shows, and attractions to keep you entertained during every second of your visit!
