Orlando International Airport

There are 44 airlines that fly to the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and 850 daily flights arriving and departing from MCO. This means you have options when choosing which airline to fly to Disney World. One of these air carrier choices is Avelo Airlines, and we have three unspoken rules you need to know about before you fly with them.

Avelo Airlines started flying into Orlando International Airport in 2021, departing from Terminal A. Avelo has coined itself as “America’s Most Convenient Airline” and “America’s Most Reliable Airline.” Avelo Airlines is also known for its budget-friendly flights. Here is what you need to know if you are considering choosing them as an air carrier.

I Fly To Disney World All the Time. Here Are the Airplane Seats To AVOID At All Costs

Family Seating

Those with children 14 and under can travel with ease as children will be seated with an accompanying adult at no additional fee.

Make sure that your child is booked under the same reservation as the accompanying adult. The accompanying adult can select a seat for the entire reservation or opt out of seat assignments. If adjacent seats are not available when booking, when it is time to fly, make sure to let a gate agent know.

If you cannot meet the criteria above, Avelo says they will “go the extra mile to attempt to seat your child with an accompanying adult. Our systems are designed to recognize family travel automatically, always attempting to assign seats together once you check in for your flight. Traveling with Avelo means more than just getting from A to B; it’s about inspiring and experiencing travel made simple, with your family’s safety, comfort, and convenience at the forefront of every journey.”

Pay for Better Seats

If you are looking for extra legroom or want a window or aisle seat, you can purchase your seat ahead of time by using the Avelo app.

There is an additional fee for each seat, but if you are looking for a more spacious seat, a third of their plane seats offer extra legroom in Avelo Premium and Premium Economy. The upgraded seat will give you anywhere between 32 and 36 inches of space.

Fly Out of Smaller Airports

It can be frustrating to have to drive to the city to fly out of a bigger airport as it is easier for airports to offer more flights out of larger airports.

Avelo, on the other hand, purposefully has routes out of smaller airports to allow customers to fly out of airports that are convenient for them. According to their website, they are growing fast and will continue to add new non-stop routes.

  1. I fly Sonoma County Airport (STS) to central Oregon (RDM) in a little over an hour. Other airlines would fly me up to Seattle, change planes, then backtrack to Oregon. Avelo is a godsend!

  2. I fly avelo often to Florida. I also used avelo to go to puerto rico. It’s a small airport however, you are not waiting in a long line for tsa it moves quickly. The only downfall is there is one place to get food and it is not the greatest highly priced and is not open all the time. Orher than that i love using this airline and you can’t beat the low fares.

  3. I have flown out of New Haven, Ct,Orlando, Florida, and West Palm,Florida. I love the air lines and it’s crew members. I also had my cat one one trip.Never a problem. I will continue to fly with Avelo airline, they also have great prices.

  4. Yes I’ve flown Avelo to a smaller airport. They are great. However their flights are seasonal, at least to the airport I need, so that’s a real disappointment!

  5. Unfortunately this airline in smaller airports only fly out 2 days within a wk like they fly out of lakeland of sunday and thurs only.
