Can you believe that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has been open for over TWO years now in EPCOT?!

This popular roller coaster opened in May 2022 and it was an instant HIT for many (except those who get motion sickness). From the quotable pre-show to the unique ride system, Cosmic Rewind has taken Disney World by storm. But if there’s one thing we think the ride needs, it’s some new rules!
Virtual Queue
First of all, we think it’s finally time for Disney World to get rid of the virtual queue for Cosmic Rewind. The ride has been open for over two years, and Disney has even made it to the point where they’re encouraging people to come back to the ride “any time” after their boarding group is called.

These days, the boarding groups aren’t filling up nearly as quickly as they used to, especially in the afternoon or during less-crowded seasons. We saw Disney successfully transfer Rise of the Resistance to a standby queue a while back, and now it’s Cosmic Rewind’s turn.
Pre-Show Etiquette
The next major rule change that we think Disney needs to make for Guardians is establishing some pre-show etiquette. The ride has two pre-shows after the main portion of the queue, and both are helpful for understanding the storyline of the ride. However, we often encounter people talking loudly or being disruptive during those pre-shows.

Seriously guys, show this pre-show the same respect that you show the stretching room in Haunted Mansion! With every show, there’s likely at least one person in the room who’s never done the ride before, and they’ll want to know what’s going on. Just be courteous!
No Stampeding
And speaking of being courteous, we come to our third rule suggestion — we think Disney should outlaw the “stampeding” that happens after the second preshow. Inevitably, every time we watch the second pre-show, people will begin to crowd the exit doors after the initial walls disappear and then stand there and talk before pushing and shoving others out of the way when the gates open.

Ultimately, it becomes a mad rush to get to the loading area of the ride, and in their haste to get out of the pre-show, the people crowding the doors make a ruckus and take away from the pre-show experience for others. And we’ve definitely been squished in the hallway a time or two by people trying to be first to board the ride!

So there you have it — our requests for how Disney should change the rules for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. What do you think of our suggestions? And make sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more Disney World content!

Im a pass holder and have neve managed to get on the queue. went yesterday managed to get in the queue for 645pm. Worked perfectly into the schedule, I’d wanted to see the 530 eat too the beat concert.. 6pmrolls by and my time had been pushed to 9pm. I was furious, I was exhausted,40k steps, sunburned, at the park since 8am, I fell asleep on the bench and said screw it and went home. I’m never going to get to ride it
But the virtual queue is so nice for locals who can set an alarm for 7am and then just show up whenever and get in line. Lol
Best ride ever!! I so agree that they need to get rid of the queue. If I want to stand in a line for 3 hrs that is my choice ! Don’t choose what rides I can ride. I hate that I might not get in the first one but maybe make the second one. So frustrating.
Absolutely agree with everything you wrote. This happens to be my #1 favorite ride of all Disney parks, but my complaints about it are the same as yours.
The pre-show is a nightmare in a wheelchair. My daughter has to be the first to be out or she doesn’t have the momentum to go up the hill (whoever designed a line that is narrowing as it sloops up clearly had no thought for those with disabilities). She has tried to wait and be the last out but the next group come before she can get up the hill. It’s annoying for people walking- but it’s a nightmare for those with mobility issues.
As someone that has not been able to ride this yet. ABSOLUTELY AGREE.
Great ideas all the way around. Im going in about a week and am disappointed they are still doing a virtual que. Best coaster around
Yes they do need ride etiquette rules – it happens all over Disney.people are always in a hurry – trying to ride as many as they can because of the ticket prices – same with food prices- Disney beware All this price increases will come back to haunt you
I’ve twice seen people just push the doors open during the second pre-show and leave and go to the loading area, and inevitably everyone else in the room just follows. Definitely need a way to manage emergency precautions while also avoiding this.
The way to resolve 90% of the issues is to have a LL pass that skips all the pre-shows no-one needs to hear ‘day drinkers’ for the millionth time by someone who thinks they are original and the pre-shows are just too long
I think you should be able to bypass the preshow, similar to a single rider line.
I agree with all of these as long as I can still act like it’s a karaoke bar while on the ride.
I heartily concur with these rule suggestions! Especially the third one. It’s so unpleasant when others jam their way through after the pre-show.
Unfortunately there are people showing the same respect in the pre show as they do in Haunted Mansion by repeating each and every line. 🙁
Totally agree re: retiring the virtual queue & pre-show courtesy. We stand clear to the left & only meander through the doors once the mad rush is done…makes us less crabby 🙂
The herding needs to be shunned for all the rides. It would be easy enough to put up rope lines in these rooms. Just one more thing on the list of what Universal does better than Disney!
