A lot has been going on in Magic Kingdom lately, it almost feels hard to keep up!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has FINALLY opened in the park, Country Bear Jamboree is getting ready to reopen its doors to their new show later in July, and Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade is no more. But what’s even more overwhelming is the fact that riding the park’s new attraction can’t just happen on a dime as you step into a standby queue. No, Genie+ and Lightning Lanes are involved again, but don’t worry, we’ve got a secret trick to help you MAKE SURE you can ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure the day of your trip.
At this time, there are only TWO ways to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — get a spot in the Virtual Queue at 7AM or 1PM, or book a regular Lightning Lane (NOT an Individual Lightning Lane, which is an extra cost). The issue? BOTH of these open at 7AM.

However, you can buy Genie+ for the day starting at midnight the day of your visit, but you won’t be able to book any Lightning Lanes until the clock hits 7AM. For the Virtual Queue, you’ll be able to confirm your party in the app a little before 7AM, but the moment that clock hits, you’ve gotta be GOING.

So what’s the secret? Which one is better? Well, we seemed to have noticed that people attempt to grab the Virtual Queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure first, since it doesn’t cost anything extra. THEN if they were unable to get in, they jump to buying Genie+ and booking it through there.

So if you’re looking to ensure you’ll be able to have a reservation to ride Tiana’s that day, we suggest buying Genie+ before 7AM hits and booking a Lightning Lane reservation right when you’re able to. Since many people will be attempting to get the free version first, you may have a minute or two head start on everyone else!

Once you’ve gotten your slot, whether through the Virtual Queue or by purchasing a Lightning Lane, be sure to take a screenshot of it on your phone in case the app glitches later on!

We also feel it’s important to note that Disney has just recently announced that Genie+ will be CHANGING in Disney World starting July 24th. The new name for the program will be Lightning Lane Multi Pass — and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be part of it. However, the new program will allow you to make reservations in advance — so while this trick will work for the next few weeks, the changes with advance reservations could change that.
