NEWS: Disney CHANGES Soarin’ Attraction in EPCOT

Tucked inside an unassuming EPCOT pavilion is one of our FAVORITE Disney attractions. Ever wondered what it would feel (and smell) like if you could glide through the air while seeing some stunning cultural icons?

The Land Pavilion

It’s easy to walk right past The Land Pavilion in EPCOT, but we’re here to tell you NOT to miss this spot! Not only can you dine at the beloved Garden Grill restaurant, but you can also ride TWO attractions here. One of those attractions, known as Soarin’, just changed! Let’s see what’s different.

First, we should probably give you a little background. When Soarin’ first debuted in EPCOT, it opened as “Soarin’ Over California.” As the name implies, riders get a birds-eye view of California, soaring over some iconic California locations (including Disneyland Resort in Anaheim).

Then, several years later, Disney updated the attraction and introduced a NEW set of scenes. Soarin’ became “Soarin’ Around the World,” officially replacing the old version of the ride. (If you’re wondering, this is where jokes about the curvy Eiffel Tower originated. Depending on your seat, you may see a crooked, bendy Eiffel Tower as you soar upwards in the air).

Well, during Disney’s 100th Anniversary celebration, Disney decided to give EPCOT fans a little blast from the past — Soarin’ Over California came BACK!

We had our fun with the California version of Soarin’ for a few months (and enjoyed every opportunity to fly over those orange groves), but this change was only temporary. Disney announced that Soarin’ Over California would end on February 27th, 2024. The next day, we went to EPCOT to check out the changes. Yep, Soarin’ Around the World is BACK.

Soarin’ fans can once again enjoy the curvy Eiffel Tower and the sweet scent of flowers at the Taj Mahal. This version is back up and running!

Goodbye, California; hello, WORLD! We’re sad to see the old show go, but we can’t deny that the stunning locations in the updated version of Soarin’ are pretty epic. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
