We Have Some CONCERNS About Disney’s NEW Moana Movie…

Disney announced that an all-new Moana movie is on its way!

That’s right! Disney decided that not only do we need a Moana series and live-action movie, but also a sequel (and they’re right, we do need all of these)! While coming up with the idea for the series, Disney realized that Moana 2 would be a great idea and decided to go with it. The movie is scheduled to come to theaters THIS November, and we have some concerns about that.

When Disney announced, on February 7th, that Moana 2 would be coming to us in November (!!), they had not officially signed Dwayne Johnson as Maui, though discussions were in the works.

Johnson eventually did officially join on as Maui in the sequel, but they were still missing their Moana voice actor. To remind you, this was in early February 2024, and the movie is scheduled to be released in November 2024, but they still didn’t have a Moana voice actor!

Luckily, Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the first movie, has finally joined the cast as of February 27th! In an Instagram reel, Cravalho shares that she is officially returning to voice Moana in Moana 2.

But that still leaves us very worried about the release date. Typically, in animated movies, the voice work is completed first and the rest of the film is done from there. So if they just now cast the role of Moana for a November 2024 movie, we’re a little concerned about it getting completed in time.

Hey, Moana!

We know Disney can work some of that classic magic, so hopefully there’s nothing to actually be worried about. We’re super excited to see that Cravalho will be back in her amazing role, and we can’t wait to see the final product.
