350 NEW Cabins Are Hopping on This Hotel Trend in Disney World

Isn’t sleeping so much more fun when your bed pops out of the WALL?

Yes, we’re talking about Murphy beds. The most fun part about them is that after you sleep, you can tuck the bed back into the wall to suddenly have a lot more space. While a lot of Disney World hotel rooms have had these for years, like Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s All Star Resorts, we’ve recently seen a MAJOR influx of these bad boys across Disney World. Let’s talk about it!

The Murphy bed trend seemingly started at the Value Resorts on Disney World property as a way of providing ample sleeping arrangements despite a smaller space.

In recent years, though, we’ve seen Murphy beds start to pop up at Moderate and Deluxe resorts!

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has ones themed to The Little MermaidDisney’s Riviera resort boasts some, and there are even ones at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian.

Now, some BRAND NEW rooms will feature Murphy beds! The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will have them in the main room. Disney shared the detail in a YouTube video highlighting favorite details that visitors will be able to find within the spaces.

The Cabins will feature over 300 (!!!) new rooms, so that’s a lot of Murphy beds!   We’re interested to see if more Disney World hotels will get them, as they’re a convenient but comfy addition to the hotel rooms.

  1. The worst thing they ever did to the cabins was to remove the Murphy beds. Those open up couches are so uncomfortable. Now …. If only they would add a second bathroom – I would have no desire to stay anywhere else.

Oh – the outside look of the new “cabins” really doesn’t look good. The older look really made it feel like you were in the wilderness. These look like the outside of an IKEA show room.

  2. These are more comfortable than the pull outs most resorts still currently have, however, I found the mattress quality on the Murphy beds vary from resort to resort. The most comfortable one I’ve found so far with an actual normal mattress has been at Pop Century. Great night’s sleep and just as comfortable as a regular bed. However, the worst one I’ve found was actually very recently at the Poly. It felt like I was sleeping on a camper bed, and I don’t mean a good camper bed. It was like a cheap 8″ plastic covered thing. Just awful and a disappointment. So, hopefully, they will follow the Pop trend and not “cheap out,” as we know they’ve been doing lately, and go with the Poly type.

  3. Glad to hear the Murphy beds are coming back to the cabins! They had them until about 8-10 years ago before changing to the metal-bar-in-your-back sleeper sofas. The Murphy beds were much more comfortable.

  4. Fun fact: Older versions of the Fort Wilderness cabins back in the 80s/90s had murphy beds! My girl scout troop used to camp in the cabins and it was my favorite part of the experience.
