The WORST Ride Decisions You Can Make in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Technically speaking, there’s not really a wrong way to “do Disney.”

There’s not really a bad day at Disney World, no matter how you choose to spend your time!

How you choose to spend your day totally depends on the experiences you prioritize, whether you’re hoping to ride all the rides, eat all the snacks, meet all the characters, or even just walk around the parks for the vibes. While there are all sorts of great Disney World itineraries that suit all sorts of vacationers and budgets, we do have a few tips for those hoping to experience everything possible in a Disney day without depleting the funds or the time on the clock.

This post will be your guide to a day spent riding all the rides in Disney’s Hollywood Studios — based on common MISTAKES we see people make. (No shame, though! We’ve done things things in the past, too — and learned the hard way.) So, without further ado, here are the WORST ride decisions you can make in a day at Hollywood Studios.

Going to MuppetVision first thing in the morning.

When the park first opens each morning, that is your chance to be among the first people on super popular rides so that you don’t have to spend all your time later in the day waiting in long lines.

Muppet Vision

MuppetVision rarely has a line at all, and most of the waiting you experience will be waiting for the previous show to be let out of the theater. Don’t waste short wait times on the Muppets. Plz. We love them, too, but they can wait.

Getting in line for Slinky Dog Dash when it’s about to rain.

Slinky Dog Dash is one ride that posts long waits all day long. Spending a lot of time in this line only for the ride to close due to rain would be such a bummer.

Make sure to keep an eye on the weather so that you know your time spent in line won’t be a waste.

Waiting longer than 25 minutes for Alien Swirling Saucers.

Alien Swirling Saucers is one of those rides that tends to post pretty high waits at midday but has lower waits toward the end of the night.

Alien Swirling Saucers

We wouldn’t recommend rope-dropping this attraction because there are other busier rides that you could knock out instead. If you wait until right before the park closes, you can often catch this ride with a 10-15 minute wait.

Waiting in line for a show earlier than 15 minutes before it starts.

The Frozen, Indiana Jones, and Beauty and the Beast shows rarely have lines long enough that you won’t make it into the next available show.

Frozen Sing-Along

There really isn’t a point in showing up more than 15 minutes ahead of the next showtime when you could show up right as the doors to the next show open and still get a seat.

Waiting in the single-rider line at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Single-rider lines typically help those riding alone get on the ride much faster, as these lines are usually much shorter.

Long lines for both

However, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s single-rider line is usually just as long as the regular line. You might have better luck waiting in the stand-by line.

Wasting your first Genie+ Lightning Lane on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a great ride in our opinion, but there are going to be much longer lines elsewhere in the park, like Slinky Dog Dash, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Those Genie+ reservations tend to “run out” faster than Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Even though Runaway Railway also posts higher wait times, you can catch it with 45-60 minute waits (or sometimes lower) throughout the day, or wait until later in the day to book that Genie+ Lightning Lane.
