Unexpected CLOSURE Hits EPCOT’s United Kingdom Pavilion

Something is looking DIFFERENT in EPCOT — and no, it’s not related to the International Food & Wine Festival (although that has already brought some changes to the park too!).

EPCOT

We’ve seen quite a bit of construction happening with certain pavilions in EPCOT, and changes made at other ones. But recently we spotted something new happening over at the United Kingdom pavilion.

While we were in EPCOT on July 26th, we saw some construction bushes up at the back of the United Kingdom pavilion.

Construction Happening Back Here

Part of the back of the pavilion was closed off, and some of the stores in the back area were also not accessible (there was construction equipment in part of the walkway from what we saw).

Closed Off

It is interesting to see this since recently we had seen a permit indicating some work could be done in the United Kingdom pavilion. Specifically, one permit from earlier in July was related to the installation of signs at the United Kingdom pavilion.

It’s unclear if this work is related to the permit noted above, but we’ll definitely be on the lookout for updates.

UPDATE: As of July 31st, the stores have reopened.

United Kingdom Merchandise

Note that the restrooms at the United Kingdom pavilion continue to be blocked off. There are alternative restrooms nearby (so that’s good news), but don’t plan to use the ones here in the UK pavilion when making your EPCOT schedule.

Closed Restrooms

In terms of other changes at EPCOT, know that construction is still in progress at the NEW Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya restaurant coming to the Japan pavilion in EPCOT. It is set to open in the summer of 2023.

New sign

Construction work is also happening over at the Canada pavilion in EPCOT.

Canada Construction

And we’re keeping a close eye out on the construction happening in the middle of World Showcase lagoon too.

What are these?

EPCOT is set to get a new fireworks show, a new festival-focused area at the front of the park, a new Figment meet-and-greet, a new Moana attraction, and MORE soon so we’ll keep you updated on all of that!

Look at all that mist!

Stay tuned for the latest news!
