We’ve been celebrating Disney World’s 50th Anniversary since October 1st, 2021 — that’s a LONG time!

It’s all coming to an end soon, though, and that means a lot of experiences will be going away. Disney ushered in new fireworks shows, entertainment, costumes, merchandise, snacks, and decorations for the 50th — including a repainted and fully decked-out Cinderella Castle. But, what happens to Cinderella Castle when the 50th Anniversary ends in Disney World?!
Believe it or not, Cinderella Castle has gone through quite a few transformations in her day! Some are beloved memories for many, some are controversial — but all have been iconic. For the 50th Anniversary, not only did Disney add golden decorations along with EARidescent accents, but a majority of the castle got a PINK makeover, too. And now that the 50th Anniversary is coming to an end, we’re left wondering what the future holds for this pink palace.

While Disney hasn’t made any sort of official announcement indicating that the castle decor will be going away, we can look back at past castle makeovers to get an idea. Back when Disney World celebrated its 25th Anniversary, a different kind of castle emerged — the Birthday Cake Castle! Disney pulled out all the stops to create what looked like a GIANT Cinderella Castle Birthday Cake. Ultimately, though, the castle was returned to its former glory after the 25th Anniversary was over.

Later, in 2004 when Stitch’s Great Escape debuted, the castle got another unique makeover. That little rascal Stitch TP-ed the castle! Wanted posters were displayed in the windows of the shops on Main Street, U.S.A. trying to help capture “Experiment 626.” This definitely made for some memorable photos for the ONE DAY it was up — and then the decor disappeared like nothing happened.

More recently, we’ve seen The Walt Disney Company’s 100th Anniversary kick off in Disneyland with new decor on Sleeping Beauty Castle!

Disney hasn’t shared whether or not 100th Anniversary decor will be coming to Magic Kingdom, though we’ve already seen a good amount of merchandise pop up here and there to celebrate. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any decorations and castle transformations, though, so stay tuned to AllEars for more!

They need to add a 100th sign on the Cinderella castle for the 100th anniversary
I loved the 25th birthday cake theme.
They should have done something like that for the 50th.
I hate the current pink color. I do love the blue roofs and the stone work. ❤️
There is no reason to repaint the castle. The new color is lovely.
Hang in there guy’s & gal’s you are the backbone of Disney!!
