BREAKING: Walt Disney World Railroad Reopening SOON With BIG Changes

We’ve been seeing some exciting changes throughout Disney World lately!

From new attractions and restaurants in the works like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and the new Connections Cafe and Eatery in EPCOT, there’s something new almost everywhere you look. Over in Magic Kingdom, Cast Members are hard at work on TRON: Lightcycle Run — and they have been for over three years! Because of the construction on TRON, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed and unavailable for guests to ride — but now, we officially know it will be reopening SOON!

The Walt Disney World Railroad is a staple attraction for many guests on their Magic Kingdom visits, and since late 2018, the opening day attraction has been closed.

But, Disney just announced that the Walt Disney World Railroad will be opening THIS holiday season!

Not only will it be reopening, it will reopen with some BIG changes. In their announcement, Disney shared that, “the creative minds at Walt Disney Imagineering also seized this moment to revisit the narration and introduce an all-new voice to bring guests into the beloved stories they encounter as they travel from one magical land to the next.”

The train will now feature new sounds and voices, along with a new conductor assuming the role! Disney shared some details on the new voiceover, “someone who grew up on Main Street, U.S.A., dreaming of the day they’d be on the railroad. They’ve now achieved that dream, and they know everyone and everything at Magic Kingdom…an unofficial mayor of sorts. This conductor is humble, genial, and knowledgeable, and he’s eager to help passengers of these iconic steam trains get to their destinations around the park he loves so dearly.”

Although the closure of the popular train ride was due to construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run, Disney Cast Members took it as an opportunity to do some routine maintenance and refurbishment of the railroad and trains.
