If you absolutely love the Walt Disney World Railroad and have been seriously missing it since it temporarily closed at Magic Kingdom to make way for the TRON construction, we’ve got good news!

The railroad has been closed for a long time now and parts of the track have been undergoing some refurbishment. Over the past few months, we’ve gotten to see updates about the trains used on the railroad, a look at railroad testing, and more. But now we’ve got some exciting news!
Disney has shared a video via TikTok showing a train being tested for the Walt Disney World Railroad, and yes, you get to hear the iconic “choo choo” which so many have missed from the parks. Click the video below to check it out!
@disneyparks Choo Choo! Testing is just beginning for the Walt #DisneyWorld Railroad crew ?✨ #Disney #DisneyParks #DisneyCastLife #Railroad #Train #TrainTok
We’ve seen the Railroad do some tests before (including some that were done all the way back in March of 2022), but it’s exciting to see Disney post this update, indicating that the Railroad crew is (hopefully) really starting to get ready for the Railroad’s eventual return.

Again, as we noted above, the Railroad has been closed for an extended period of time in Magic Kingdom as construction continues on the upcoming TRON coaster.
Construction on the TRON ride has been moving steadily along though, and we’ve seen railroad tracks being laid in some of the areas near the ride. These will ultimately enable the train to do its grand circle tour around Magic Kingdom once again in the future.

A reopening date for the railroad has NOT been announced yet though. At the moment, the Disney website still notes that the Railroad simply isn’t circling Magic Kingdom at the moment. We checked on the last day of the current calendar (December 26th, 2022) and no operating times were listed for that date.
But things could change if testing goes smoothly and all necessary tracks are put in place.

Again, it’s not the first time we’ve seen news about train testing, so it’s unclear just how much progress has been made in recent months when it comes to training, but it still appears to be a good step in the direction of eventually letting guests hop on this ride once again.

Still don’t understand why they couldn’t run one train from main Street to fantasyland and back.
