We’re still reeling from all the Disney parks news we learned at the 2022 D23 Expo!
Not only did we learn about potential new lands coming to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, but we also learned the official opening timelines for the upcoming Moana attraction in EPCOT and TRON: Lightcycle Run in Magic Kingdom. And while the Walt Disney World Railroad (which is currently closed due to TRON construction) didn’t get an official reopening date, we did hear something pretty exciting on a recent trip to the park!
It’s official — TRON: Lightcycle Run will be opening in Magic Kingdom sometime in Spring 2023! And while Disney didn’t comment on whether or not that meant the refurbishments to the Walt Disney World Railroad would be finished by then, we’re still ecstatic to have an idea of when these attractions might be ready for guests.
We’ve seen some updates on the railroad here and there, mostly in the form of new tracks being spotted…
…or work being done on the railroad tunnel that will go under the TRON coaster which you can see from the PeopleMover.
But, on a recent visit to the Magic Kingdom, it certainly sounded like the train was testing! While we couldn’t actually see what was going on, we did catch a video in which you can hear the train whistle.
Some train testing is happening today in Magic Kingdom! We couldn't quite catch it visually, but listen closely for some exciting noises! 🚂 pic.twitter.com/H4z2TRXRTB
